A short but fun read for my 8 yo

My daughter is 7 and loves the choose your own adventure books!Color pictures are great and the font size is not intimidating for her. We read them together or she picks it up by herself.Story line is cute for her, even a bit of humor in the decisions you make along the way.

Christmas presents….for grandkids ages 7-15

I consider the Oregon Trail series the gold standard (read: 5-star) of choose your path books at the youth level. I wasn’t expecting great literature when I bought “Mermaid Island” for my 7 YO advanced reader who loves mermaids, but even she recognized quickly that the lack of real “danger” left her disappointed.Mermaids are awesome. The ocean is awesome. “Mermaid Island” is harmless...but not awesome.

I bought several dragonlark CYAs since my daughter loves CYA books. These are terrible. Story lines are abrupt and the choice consequences often make no sense. Might be good for a 4 yr old with a short attention span.

My daughter loves this book and at 8 she has no problems reading it.

We got this book for our granddaughter. We read it to her and the grandsons. They enjoyed the book.
