Why did you pick this product vs others?: My husband had a cheap Virginia beach tourist straw cowboy hat for like 3 years. He loved it. It finally died so I started looking for one that wasn't ugly. I showed him this hat and its the only one he has liked. I was afraid to buy because of the reviews. It did come bent, but I sprayed it with water, shoved a rolled up towels in the rim for a few minutes until it dried, and poof, fixed. This hat is way better quality than the crappy tourist hat that lasted him 3 years. I can't imagine it falling apart. He has a big man head and it fits perfectly.

previously I had to buy two a year until I figured out how to fix them. Where it for a few days and be careful not to damage it, then get a can of matte finish spray shellac and give it two coats, especially on the front brim where you tend to touch it. This sets the shape and waterproofs it.

Terrific buy, bronco! I sport this hat on the weekends when we go hiking, beaching, etc. Price can't be beat. Quality construction and durability. Lightweight, keeps the head cool and shades the face. Very handsome on a man or woman (my girlfriend looks adorable in it) and doesn't look the least bit showy or like you're trying to be a glam-rock cowboy. It's the real deal. Also...I tried on the tea-stained drifter recently (same hat, different color) and was so glad I bought this straw-colored one instead.

Three times I have ordered this hat. Three times it has come damaged, all in the same fashion: broken straw creating holes in the hat. Twice it came in a box. The first time there was no dunnage (neither bubbles nor ranpak), the second time it also came in a box, however this time with a few bubbles, but was still damaged. The third time it was shipped to me it came in a bag... The humor, mind you, was not lost on me. The third hat was twice as damaged as the first two, as you might have expected. The description says this product is durable... that is a lie. I have owned a very similar hat and it is made of dry straw, so it is as durable as you might expect. But frankly I would hope that it would at least make it to me unscathed. Apparently that is too much to ask. If you purchase, I hope you have better luck an I.

Lightweight, great color, fits very well.

I was incredibly surprised at how comfortable the inner lining of this hat is despite the fact of it being a straw hat. I've worn it all summer long while out doing field work. The only suggestion I will say is I did tie a bandana around the outside of the hat to kind of give it a little bit of a nice look. Other than that super comfortable breathable during the hot weather.
