Other under desk mount types are very clunky and poorly made. The clamp style doesn't work for our desk set up. This is a sturdy under desk mount keyboard drawer that requires a #2 Phillips head screwdriver and either get self-tapping screws or a 1/8" drill bit to pre-drill holes using the supplied screws. It took me 30 minutes on desk 1, as needed to learn how to set the spacing. It took about 15 minutes on the second desk. If you have a screw gun and can drill a hole you can easily do this. We looked for weeks at multiple keyboards, all looked pretty bad. This Kensington model is well built, but not suitable for abuse/heavy use. We had the old Rubbermaid one similar one was discontinued; others looking similar are likely as flimsy as the old Rubbermaid model. I finally chose this one mostly because of the extra-wide inner drawer space (24.5”) which I knew would give me a lot more room to maneuver my keyboard and mouse within a single drawer space, thus giving me more position tolerance. At first look, I wasn’t sure if the rails and brackets were solid enough, but I trusted one of the other reviewers who said it was. The brackets and rails are solid and sturdy and it shouldn’t be a concern, unless you would mean to abuse it. I’m very satisfied with the product and I’m happy that I went with this one. Now my hands nicely hang and rest when I type or use mouse, giving no more strain to my wrists or elbows. Unless you have a desk you can flip over easily for the installation, some measuring, simulation on the optimum installation position, and actual installation under your desk could take some time. Price was right and I would select the same product if I had to do it again. BTW, wrist rest pad and mouse pad came along with the tray which was great. The mouse pad could be better, so I threw in my old mouse pad in there as well. How wide is the mounting arm (if any)? How far apart are the screw holes (if any)?** A: The shelf attaches with four 'L' brackets, aimed away from the shelf itself. The total width from edge of bracket to bracket is 29 inches. There are three screw holes on each bracket in a triangular pattern. Distance from point to point of the widest hole is about 28.5 inches wide, and just under 11 inches deep. **Q: How long are the screws? Have a desk that is just about 1" thick.** A: I think you will be fine. My desk is about 1 inch thick too. The product is solid enough, but cannot actually be locked in place. It doesn't bother me, though. **Q: does this tray slide under the desk out of sight** A: If you mount it right, it does need to come out far enough to clear you desks edge as much as can be. Measuring correctly for a good install is essential. It does hang down 3-4 inches, but it's black and dark, my keyboard has lights so I think it looks great in or out.I am on my 2nd or 3rd one and I deliberately bought a new identical one so all I had to do was unscrew the one I had broken over the last many years of abuse. I regularly lean on mine, store things in addition to the keyboard and a thumb wheel mouse. The picture is misleading because it shows a white tray with a black wrist rest and mouse pad. The white tray pictured must be an option that was available in the past. When I ordered mine, the only color available was black. In regards to the comment about hardware in an earlier color question reply, I received all the proper hardware and was able to install the shelf without any problem. The written assembly instructions were correct although there was a mistake in the pictures that showed the wrong size screw to use on one step. The wrist rest pad, however, is great and no complaint. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Decent *by A***R on May 14, 2025* This product was purchased twice. First package did not come with the 4 screws that were required for the first step. They sent me a new one with no issues and it contained all of the parts. I returned the original, it has been a week and no refund yet (will update if complications arise). I have an L-Desk with a metal bar that lines the edges, this prevents the bottom of my desk to be flush. The brackets on this keyboard trays does accommodate that difference. I did have to switch out my keyboard for a more standard one to best fit the tray and still maintain an upright angle. Installation was tricky because there was no situation where I could flip my desk upside-down. I assembled the tray fully, aligned it where I needed it to my desk and used a bungee cord to hold it in place. The screws for the bracket to desk are too long, I replaced those wood screws and also pre-drilled my holes because, my desk isn't real wood. There are a lot of videos and information out there installing these styles, a little research helps to make it really customizable. All in all, it all came together well enough. Some adjusting to it is needed but it's nice to have more distance from my screen and hold a more relaxed position to type. My mouse does fit on the tray but not enough space to really do any graphic design or modeling work. The "con's" I could claim are 1- due to installation, I am not 100% on the alignment and my tracks might be a tad off causing some friction. Not end of world stuff, just a bit of resistance. At least my tray doesn't have any ability to slam into position. 2- I sit weird, so my legs are actually pressed up against the bottom of the tray. The bottom of the tray, manufacturing wise to cut down on weight and material was to hollow it out and make it waffle construction. Now I have thin edges of plastic digging into my legs. Don't be me and you'll be fine. I have also ordered a new chair due to how I sit.... 3- durability, I am uncertain how strong the plastic honestly is. There is some give, the foam bumper slips and slides around.
