Works fine after adaptation
This actually did a pretty good job after some adaptation. 1. I had to notch the bottom out in four places so it would fit on my burner. Otherwise it would just slide off to one side or another because my pan wires are wider than this toaster base. It didn't seem to compromise the structure any. I used an angle grinder to do the job. 2. I read that it works best with four pieces of toast than just two. We are only two and don't need more than two at a time. So I bought 2 4x4 bathroom tiles from Home Depot (13 cents each) and using the same angle grinder, except this time with a diamond wheel (not everyone has this stuff sitting around, but I do) and cut corners off of them so the two pieces of toast would fit. Not sure how it works with four pieces of large toast. 3. I took a small piece of aluminum flashing (yeah, I have that hanging around too) and cut out a little piece that can sit on top to help retain heat. TADA! As you can see in the picture, it toasted rather evenly (without any rotating as others say they have to do). And, quite frankly, after setup, it really didn't take much longer than our home electrical toaster. I would pay three times as much for a toaster I wouldn't have to adapt, but they don't seem to exist or don't have any better reviews than these cheep ones, which all look identical regardless of the seller.

Lobster salad toasted to be sure
My item arrived in good shape on time built far better than the days of old very substantial excellent conductor of heat. We want the toast toasted especially with lobster salad sandwich in New England.

Sadly in my opinion too SLOW! Wastes propane.
Sorry NOT fit for purpose. On a propane burning stove top, the time taken to get nicely browned toast, is prohibitively long. Using far too much propane for just making toast. Will try it on my "Canadian made" wood burner, by VitalGrill. It may still take a long time on that, but no propane costs. In the end I placed my stainless bug screen on there, and settled for toasting one slice at a time. Quicker but could do better. In my teens back in the 60s I had a truncated pyramid camp toaster. The pyramid sides had louvers. The bread was held about 1/2inch away from the hot metal sides of this tower. That was much faster. Can't seem to find those now. Ok they didn't flat pack down, but worked way faster. Didn't waste propane.

No toast for the weary….
This camping toaster did not toast. I used it on my gas stove. Warms up bread and is fairly sturdy and looks like it will last a while but toast… no. The angle of the bread holder means no heat distribution to the bread but goes straight up. Bit of a pain to set up.

Same item, half the price.
We camp and don't carry a lot of single use appliances, like a 120v toaster. With the gas grill or even griddle, we make toast using this 'toaster.' This is half the price of the 'name brand' you'll find in local stores, or even online. It is the same quality, just as good, and makes toast just as well as the more expensive one. Folds flat, doesn't weigh much. Makes unto 4 slices at a time. Don't waste a lot of 'bread' on the name brand when this works as well as it does.

Amazing!!!
I live off grid and really miss toast. I got this and lemme tell you what a game changer this is!!! I wish I found this years ago! Me, my dad, my son we all LOVE toast and this was so easy to use! It takes a minute, sure but it’s not much longer than an electric toaster. We just pop it on the propane stove and just like that, toast or frozen eggo waffles in minutes. Takes a bit of juggling to figure out the best way to fit the bread but as long as you have common sense you’re fine. Just make sure you have an extra loaf of bread because you’ll want more toast!

Off Grid Toaster
I purchased a new one because I had a very old one. I live off grid so this is perfect for the propane stove or camp fire. The only thing is when it is new, it takes longer to toast bread. It seems that the base gets darker with use so that it is slowly getting faster to toast bread.
