I contacted Magtek directly and asked which swiper would be compatible with Mindbody Online, the software we use to run our salon. Based on their quick response, I ordered this which was almost half what I would have paid buying it from Mindbody directly. So that was the first win. Then it came very quickly and wrapped well which was the second win. Finally, applied it to the side of the iMac we use at our front desk, plugged in the USB and tested it. It worked! WIN! We've been using it about a week and its easy to slide cards through and seems like a solid little device. Hoping it holds up with use!

Great card reader that can swipe in both directions with the card facing either way. This reader is durable and easy to mount, and works great for both student ID's and credit cards.

We ordered 2 of these - 1 to replace an old one and one to expand our abilities to take credit cards at a second sales station. Both have functioned just as expected and have been a huge improvement. We plugged them into the computers right out of the box, and they functioned perfectly with our sales software - Vendini. So far, I would say they are a great value for the investment.

I bought this card reader years ago to track attendance at college events. I didn’t use it for long because the college soon afterwards provided a system to track event attendance. Nonetheless, this was a very useful, inexpensive and effective tool while I needed it.

This unit replaces another card reader of the same make and model that stopped functioning after a year. After a week this one seems to read cards about 90% of the time. On the misreads it requires a second swipe. It is easy to install just plug into a usb port. No drivers or software necessary. It appears to integrate with existing software from the previous model. The construction is rather poor and feels flimsy. The unit lacks weight to stand still on its own and the provided 1/2 inch of two sided tape for mounting is not sufficient. It will work free within the first 3 or 4 swipes and need to be chased across a counter top, where sterner measures can be applied to convince it to remain stationary.

This one certainly isn't the most expensive MSR out there, but it isn't the cheapest either. It works every time we swipe a card either direction. We use a much cheaper model on our second POS and it has trouble reading some cards where this one never does. It also looks and feels much higher quality.

I've purchased about 30 of these and every single one works easily and reliably. It's especially positive that it reads the card swiped either direction, so no user training is even required. Just plug in and start swiping!
