These chili-covered lollipops were purchased out of childhood nostalgia, and these Vero Mango candies seem different than what I remember as a child, because these lollipops were smaller than the originals I remember, and when I was young - I didn't realize that the reason they were so addicting (once you get passed the initial chili kick that not everyone loves) because of a key ingredient: Monosodium Glutamate, which is a neuro-chemical that causes your brain to tell your body that you want to consume 30% more of this product (or any product with MSG) than you really want-to. As with many processed goods, these also have FD&C (petroleum-based) food colors / dyes (for red and yellow coloring), which also have negative impacts of their own, according to some studies; however, the FDA (Food & Drug Administration) thinks its safe for people to ingest FD&C Red 40, Yellow 5, FD&C Blue 1 if the label indicates the food product contains it, but not otherwise - so it's safe to err on the side of caution, and limit consumption of these addictive Mexican lollipops to very rarely. This bag disappeared quickly after eating the majority of the contents myself; then I shared a few pieces with open-minded friends unafraid of adding toxins to their body. These Vero Mango lollipop candies seem to fit a specific personality-type; the kind of person who eats this candy is one who loves taking risks, and making their heart-rate increase for a brief moment! The downside can be a depressing crash once you run out of Vero Mango lollipops to eat. But if you buy one of these huge bags - you will be rewarded over and over again with an extremely shocking chili flavor, and a sticky, cavity-causing (if you don't brush your teeth right after you're finished eating one or more) mango-candy-flavored deliciousness!And regarding the purchasing of a huge bag of these Vero Mango, Chili-covered (and artificially flavored, and colored) Mango flavored lollipop candy bags - the inner voice said, "Do it! No, don't do it. Yeah, do it. No, don't do it! Keep a few around, then you can do it whenever you want to!" I listened to the voice, and did it, and I'm already out. It would be great for these to be made of natural ingredients as opposed to artificial colors and flavors that don't seem necessary. One bag was enough to last me probably for at least a year; my brain remembers almost every single Vero Mango lollipop I ate; where I was, who I was with when I had them in my pocket, how sad I feel at the end that it's all gone. I'll live!
