Seller either did not answer, or the answers were vague / evasive.We are particular about the health & well being of our parrots. However, the soldering/welding job is really sloppy and a globby job. Also the inside of the bell is not the same shiny stainless steel like the outside. I am not sure why? Maybe I should get a replacement?Since I actually spent $10 on a lead test kit (yes I am OCD protective Mom) and it tests good I am going to keep. I purchased the small size. But, the bell is well made and the clapper is set in far enough that the bird's beak cannot reach it. The chain links are thick and sturdy and can withstand the beaks of a bigger parrot, like a conure. I feel that this bell would be overkill for a budgie. The "C" clamp is also very sturdy. For the price, this is a great value.Now - what does it sound like? It has a very nice tone to it. Not a tinny or a clunky sound. Almost melodic, even soothing. Since I bought two bells, they both have the same pitch.Having said all this - I like the stainless steel bell! It's easy to clean, too.I have seen painted ones and wonder if in time, the paint would chip.
