High quality
Great quality grain if you are using for mycological purposes. Far superior to others on the market.

Great value for mycology
Used for mycology grain spawn - good quality, very little sticks/chaff/dirt etc. to rinse out.

Very Fresh
These grains are just great. No debris and no bugs - color seems fresh. They cook up fine, and I ground some into rye flour.

Who Knew That Rye Berries Were So Delicious?!
You can make flour from rye berries by grinding the berries but you can also cook the berries as an alternative and healthy grain. I love rye bread but who knew that rye berries were so delicious? The rye berries can be used in place of grains like rice, quinoa and farro or ground to make flour for baked goods. Since the wheat kernel is left intact, virtually none of the nutrients are stripped away. It is easy to cook rye berries. It is like fixing brown rice. I fixed mine in the pressure cooker on the brown rice setting. We thought it was still a little chewy so I set it to cook again on the same setting and it came out perfect. My son, who loves all grains and rice, really loved it. It is a sturdy grain, holding up more than white rice so it is a good choice for grain salads and other dishes that need to hold up to adding veggies and other foods without getting mushy.

Arrived in record time!
I plan to grind the rye berries in my grain mill for rye bread and crackers. The best by date was April 2023 - I wish that the harvest date was part of the product labeling.

25-Pound Sack Best for Milling
I use a NutriMill to mill my own flour, and this 25-pound bag of rye berries will go a long way toward making fresh rye flour. Bread is especially good when made from just-milled flour. These Central Milling Company rye berries are certified organic -- hey, if you're going through the effort, you might as well get rid of chemical pesticides and fertilizers -- and non-GMO. They taste fresh and have a long shelf life, although I'll have to store them in multiple airtight containers to keep them that way. I cannot imagine getting such a large sack of rye berries unless you planned to make them into flour. As it is, it will take me a long time to work through them. If I used them as an occasional whole grain for a meal, it would take me even longer. But if you're into home-milled rye flour, this will be perfect for you. -- Debbie Lee Wesselmann
