Minus33 Merino Wool Workhorse Crew Sock

It sheds like crazy and I get wadded up chunks of wool in the bottom of my shoe. If it goes thru the dryer it shrinks to an uncomfortable size, just let it air dry. Super warm sock and happy with purchase.

Seller responded to question about tightness around calves by saying "these 3/4 socks should not be tight try them."I say they are too tight unless you roll them down with the tight ring at the top of the sock put down close to your ankle. Like it is shown in the sellers pic.What I am looking for is a sock that fits like that w/o the rolling down part, as I also have big calves from arthritic swelling. If you know of such a sock please tell me.

I use this as winter socks for everyday usage. Built well, the Workhorse does the job.

Sock was comfortable in foot when tried on. Top band does not stretch, felt like a leather strap.Online sizing is wrong, women's shoe size 8.5 needs size small sock.Returned.

Highly recommended for winter. Keeps your feet warm.

I usually love Minus33 wool products. When I bought these I also bought a pair of Icebreaker and a pair of Fox River socks. The fit around the calf somewhat small, and the wool was sort of rough. Shrank way more than expected compared to the ones I bought from Fox River. By the end of the day the band was digging into my calf. I wear wool socks to work everyday, so I would go with Fox River instead of these.

I wore the socks for the first time yesterday.The socks are 30 to 50% more bulky then crew socks. The weave is pretty tight. The socks are dense and not mushy like some thermals.They fit pretty snug, especially on the ankles(I'm a size 9 shoe, 5'.9" 180#) so much so that they were creeping down. They go up the leg about the same as a crew sock, maybe 8"? Consequently, they are more difficult to don/doff then my crews.The socks performed well. My shoes still fit properly and they kept me warm all day, even when damp.Around the house they're pretty slippery on hardwood floors.They are almost like slippers. I can walk into my cement floor garage or out onto the driveway and NOT FEEL the slightest bit cold.So far, I like them and will probably buy them again.2019, Dec UPDATEThese are still going strong. I wear them several days per week. They are my go-to hunting sock.

Don't get me wrong, I love Minus33 merino wool products. It is just that they have the weirdest sizing system for their socks.First, the lists never seem to indicate whether it is for man or woman so the guessing game started. I first ordered small, thinking if it was a woman's small, I can wear it and if it was a man's small, my husband could wear it. The first small arrive and it was smaller than my 5.5 size.So I ordered extra large for my husband. The extra large arrived and they were the true man's extra large so off they went back to Amazon.At the same time I ordered small in a different style, the socks were just right for my six-old daughter. I ordered medium in the same style, they were barely large enough for me.Then I order medium of the workhorse multiport for myself. They arrived today - guess what they are bigger than my husband's size 8 feet.It is pretty much hit and miss with Minus33 socks. They need to do a better job with sizing. A small in one style could be three to four sizes smaller than the other style or a medium could be several sizes bigger than the medium of a different style. I am giving up on ordering Minus33 merino wool socks.

The foot of this sock is great and I have no complaints, and a little on the large side, but it's abnormally tight on the calf - almost like there was a manufacturing defect, given the difference between the parts of the sock.
