Practical Astrology for Witches and Pagans: Using the Planets and the Stars for Effective Spellwork, Rituals, and Magickal Work Paperback – January 1, 2016

I've been studying astrology for the past 2 years now and this book it's an excellent companion for anyone interested in both astrology or witchcraft. It definitely filled the gaps in my training and gave me a new perspective on how to approach many situations in my daily practice. I cannot recommend this enough, the language of the book and concepts explained are clear and direct. Amazing work.

This is one of the most useful books in practical astrology that I have read. The author explains in easy to understand language the various Aspects that the Signs and Planets form as they go through their eternal celestial dance. He goes into depth explaining the esoteric implications in the various Aspects; trine, square, sextile, etc., pointing out what types of magical work are more potent at certain times and an explanation of why. The book also goes over each individual astrological and planetary glyph, explaining the hidden symbolism in each one and what that can teach us about working with these celestial energies. There are several examples of how these glyphs can be utilized in one's magical practice, and also how the progression of the Zodiac has many lessons to teach within the Great Work of spiritual growth. The way that Ivo Dominguez Jr. explains the working of the celestial machine is insightful, and helps integrate one's understanding of the relationship between the stars, planets and signs. This book is written from a Pagan point of view for magical practice and spiritual growth, and provides valuable information not found in contemporary books on astrology. There are easy to understand instructions explaining how to calculate and read one's own natal chart as well as creating sigils using Planetary Squares. This is one of those books where there is something useful on every page.

I read through this book in less than a week but I will be revisiting it, perhaps several times. The first read provided me the information I needed for my immediate purposes, and the exercises stood out as intriguing keys to greater depths that warranted a slower approach. I expect to spend some time working through the suggested practices and then rereading the text. The material is written with clarity and accessibility, yet with every every bite one gets the sense that there are more complex flavors and textures available if they were to slow down or revisit the material. This is also the first book I've read to explain Magic Squares with such enthusiasm and simplicity that I felt inspired to give them more attention.

If you've wondered how to apply astrology to magic or how astrology even applies to Paganism, this book is a must read. What I like about it is that Ivo does an excellent job of explaining astrology and showing how you can apply it to your magical work without a lot of esoteric jargon or technical terms. When he has to use such terms, he does, but he also explains them. Ivo also provides some exercises that can help you apply the information in the book to your magical practice. This is a certainly a book for someone who has astrology background or magical background and wants to apply astrology to magic, but if you, like me, don't know much about astrology, you'll still get a lot from the book. I do recommend reading the book once and taking notes and then going back through and trying the exercises. This is a much needed resource and I highly recommend it to anyone. One down side to this book is no bibliography or suggested reading list.

It may seem improbable but this book is easy to understand for even a beginner of the Art. Ivo Dominguez, Jr. is a master at making the seemingly complex accessible to everyone. A useful compendium to have in your library and refer back to again and again.

This is an awesome book. I am a novice at Astrology but I am an practicing occultist and this book explained practical Astrology that I can incorporate into my practice.I didn't buy this book to become an Astrologist but to learn enough to incorporate Astrology into my practice. This book exceeded my expectations. Ivo covers topics for practical applications in many areas in a very concise road map of learning. I have read this book once, cover to cover, and plan on rereading it several times more to completely absorb all the information. The book material is dense but Ivo has a remarkable way of explaining it.You will not be disappointed.

This book has been in my library for several years! I have a great deal of respect for Ivo Dominguez, Jr both as a scholar and an author. He has the ability to take complex subjects and explain them in a way that ordinary people can understand! This is a book that I have come back to on a number of occasions. I highly recommend!

After years of avoiding astrology because it all sounded like white noise and nonsense to me, I can finally incorporate important celestial events and information into my magickal workings thanks to the thorough explanation in this manual. Ivo paints a landscape in the mind's eye, so if you are a visual learner like me, do not fear the format. I took it slowly, let ideas blossom and folded it into my practice at a rate that was digestible. I recommend this book highly to anyone who practices magick in any tradition, whether you are a novice or consider yourself advanced. I promise you there will be ideas here that you have not yet heard.

I am not an expert on the practical application of modern or medieval astrology so I bought this book to learn more about the subject. It contains a lot of information that would be very useful and informative for those who wish to use astrology in their magical procedures. This is the first book to be published on the subject area and it is a great shame many modern authors appear to be quite dismissive of astrology, partly because it makes magic more complex. I hope someone would publish a beginners 'for dummies' style book specifically on medieval astrology for grimoire magic.
