Awesome Ice Maker
We go through a lot of ice while camping. And ice at a campground isn't necessarily cheap either. We were going to go with a different ice maker, one that you hooked directly to a water line, but I had reservations about that. This one particular campground we love to go to has water that turns a not so pleasing rust color, I didn't want that in my ice maker. I had one in my cart and happened to stumble across this ice maker. I thought, how ideal to be able to have the ability to not only use a direct water line, but you can use a five-gallon water bottle too! Our water at home is perfectly fine so we got a five-gallon bottle, filled it. The machine produced ice rather quickly and the ice is crystal clear. Since the ice maker does not keep ice from melting, we transferred the ice to ice bags and put them in the freezer. We only filled half of a bottle but we got several bags of ice from that. We haven't taken it camping with us yet but will the end of May. We feel this machine will have paid for its self in one camping season.

Lasted less than a year
This ice machine started off good. It worked well at the beginning. It made ice quickly and efficiently, my only complaint was that the ice melted quickly inside, like it wasn’t fully insulated. Less than a year of having it it stopped working completely. It would stop working, flashing the light of full. If I would turn it off and back on it would work again for a bit. Now it has completely stopped making ice. The machine is still on and lights work and it is full of water, but no ice. It is not worth the money to work correctly for less than a year and totally stop working in a year and a half.

Makes fantastic ice!
I stepped up to a commercial grade ice maker since the smaller bullet freezers have about a year lifespan. Love this! It makes more ice and I was able to plumb it into the bottle-less water cooler. So the icemaker is making ice with filtered water. I wish it recycled the water but as long as the room is reasonably cool, it doesn't waste that much water. And too, I decided to reuse the melt for the dog's water dish. The instructions are minimal, let me save you a water mess, if you run a water line to it, no adjustments needed. Out of the box it is ready for a water line. But if you plan to use bottled water, there is a valve on the inside, close to the pump, switch it around. Otherwise you will find yourself with a flood. And then if you change your mind and run a waterline to it, change it back. These things are important to know. But my floor got a good mopping-twice.All in all, I love this icemaker. Clear ice cubes made fast. I recommend it!

It keeps up with us!
Took a step of faith and ordered it even though I read some bad reviews about it. Needless to say it has been amazing. Super easy to use. My husband hooked it up quickly (only thing that took time was that he needed to drill a hole since we did not have a drain for what melts). If there was a down fall, that would be it. I hate waste and it just seems like we may be using/loosing water because of melt off. Not sure how much because I've never checked to see. Also, comments are correct about the cubes sticking together when they fall into the basket. Just give it a quick whack and they'll separate. If you have to have every piece of ice fall into the basket perfectly, not stuck together, then this isn't your machine. Ice scoop that comes with is small and isn't strong enough in my opinion to break the ice apart. I use my little metal ice cream scoop when needed. One day I'll remember at the store to purchase a metal scoop. Value for the money? Don't know. This is the first ice machine I've purchased. We have used the counter top models that shoot out 9 cubes in 12 minutes.. not a good deal for my family. This one definitely keeps up and my kids and husband are ice fanatics! Noise level.. yeah, sometimes it seems noisy but when you go to bed shove ice back in it so it thinks it's full and it stops making ice and is quiet. Blue light on the machine will light up the room a little so you can see if you come out to the kitchen at night. Can't think of anything else I would want to know. OH! One cool thing was you can put a 5-gallon jug on the top for a water supply if you didn't have one. That was kinda cool but you'd still have to have some kind of a drain for melting ice.Good luck! We enjoy ours.

it generates a TON of waste water
It was easy to set up and connect. It does make good ice and we have not even come close to running out. However, the ice bin is not very insulated. It is not like an ice maker in your fridge. It is more like a flimsy portable cooler. As a result, the ice melts fast. The melted ice (now water) is disposed via a hose. You need to have a floor drain or a big bucket to capture the water. Ours is in the garage and I will probably have to drill a hole into the garage wall to drain it to the outside. my 20 gallon trash can that I use right now fills up twice a week. And it is not even hot yet.

Great addition to your kitchen!
Product works great. I built a stand and put rollers on the bottom. You can probably buy one. I used a bucket to drain until I had time to run permanent drain pipes. It had about 5 inches on water in a 5 gallon pail over 24 hours. I was expecting more so it is great to know it's not wasting that much water! I thought this machine was priced reasonable and my family loves it. The fridge icemaker isn't enough for a big family, so this is a great addition to our kitchen. I did install a filter I also bought on Amazon. If you are installing yourself I recommend you go to a local hardware store with your filter and freezer hose to get the right fittings, big box stores aren't much help finding the right fittings. I'm sure if you would like to use the machine without permanent plumbing you won't be disappointed either. Just elevate the machine at least a foot off the ground to adequately drain.
