It actually goes on greenish which helps you see where you have applied it and where you might have missed. The directions say to rinse off after an hour. I did that the first time. The tan was very subtle so I followed a review and left it on over night. This works well for me. The tan lasts 4-5 days. I tried Jergans lotion and the tan was barely noticeable plus the smell was musty.
