Is the 4/30/18 reviewer correct in stating, "the capsule would have to contain 1000mg of MgBisglycinate to produce 200mg Magnesium" in each capsule?

Accepted Answer

The amount stated per capsule answered by Bioschwartz via email is the amount of magnesium bisglycinate chelate it has, around 210mg +/- 3%, and NOT the amount of elemental magnesium it has. Magnesium Bisglycinate unbuffered in a pure form has about 14% of absorbable 'elemental' magnesium. In other words, they would need around 1429mgs, almost 1 1/2 grams of magnesium bisglycinate in two pills to attain 200mg of elemental magnesium. As it contains around 420 in two pills, it will have somewhere around 56mg of elemental magnesium per two caps since absorbable elemental magnesium is only 14% of the mass of the molecule for pure bisglycinate. Always know the amount of elemental you are getting, but also the absorption rate and usability of the form the magnesium is attached to, as some forms like oxide may only absorb 4% of the elemental magnesium you take in, cause stomach distress etc. See my review for full info. It is however a very high quality product with no fillers and tiny pills. The absorption rates and the overall effects on the body make magnesium bisglycinate a good supplemental form and I find this form works quickly and is very usable by the body.

How many Mg per capsule ?

Just as the label says, 2 capsules contain 72 mg. of magnesium.  The other comments must be confused by the amount of the carrier bisglycinate chelate.   Most other magnesium supplements (glycinate) are 200 to 400 mg magnesium per serving.  It is too bad they made the capsules so small.  Not very cost effective to get a useful dosage .  8 capsules = 328 mg magnesium.

It says it's made in usa, but from what country are the ingredients of the magnesium sourced?  does any of the ingredients come from china or india?

While we wait for BioSchwartz to answer this, I can speak from experience with this magnesium supplement and tell you that I really don't think it matters one bit because this is by far the best magnesium supplement I have ever taken (and the best I've ever seen). Its potency and purity and quality can really be felt when I take it. I don't get anywhere near enough magnesium from anything I eat or drink and I also have Autism, so I depend on magnesium supplements. I have always relied on powders to mix with water because all magnesium capsules and pills and tablets are too big for me to swallow. So I have waited a very long time for some company to make one that I can actually swallow. These things are truly *TINY*.

I love this BioSchwartz magnesium so much that I hope that I can continue taking it for the rest of my life, and I'm only 39 years old.
