    Unexpectedly small

Although well-made, this 6-sided tam was unexpectedly small. The description on Amazon was incorrect in stating the range of adjustment was:  SIZE: Adjustable XS-XL (Hat Sizes 19" - 25"), when actually the tam was too small for my husband's 23.7" head. The tam fit my own 20.5" head very well and was well proportioned, comfortable, and looked great. However, it was all wrong for my husband's larger head. With the adjustment tab fully released, the tam was  extremely tight and uncomfortable, but also proportionally wrong for the head, more resembling a beanie or floppy velvet pancake than a traditional tam. We returned this 6-sided tam and ordered the 8-sided version as a satisfactory replacement. The 8-sided tam was 1" longer across the points and even larger across the flats, which was proportionally better suited to a largish head and had enough adjustment range for a comfortable fit (see 8-sided review). For smaller heads, this 6-sided tam is quite fine, but not suited for 23"+ heads.

This was the same doctoral tam that my school wanted me to purchase from the supplier but about 1/10th of the price!  It looked exactly the same as those that spent 10x more on theirs from the supplier.  The adjustable velcro was useful to get a good fit on my head.  Overall pleased with the price and the fact that it looked exactly like the more expensive ones.
