This is the first beard specific product I've used. I purchased Spartans Den oil and balm as well but haven't used these products yet. The scent isn't very strong to me and I like it. As someone mentioned in another review it doesn't seem to last long after rinsing, might be that I go nose blind to it at that point. My beard does seem a little softer. The shampoo does lather fairly well, and it looks like a clear watery gel when it comes out. I'm not sure about the claim that it promotes beard growth at this time. I did trim my beard fairly short before using so I could get the product to the root of the problem and get the situation under control as quickly as possible. If I do notice any growth promotional effects I'll surely update this review. Also like I said, the price is awesome for 8 ounces of this. It get's my viking looking beard spiffy and manageable in no time. My lady friend likes the smell so that a big plus.
