Awesome backpack
I love it. The quality is like nothing else I have seen for a dog carrier. It has multiple pockets for storage so a second backpack is not needed when traveling or going on hikes. I have been looking for a bag like this to carry my 10 lbs. dog in. I’m only 5’2” 110lbs and can carry him comfortably. Love it love it

Great quality and functional
I love this backpack! The first time I took my dog on a hike I was wondering if he would get tired - well, he did! Hiked for over 2 hours with a 12-pound dog and a few other things in it and it felt comfortable. It also worked well at a restaurant just as a safe place for him. Definitely recommend!

Best Travel Pet Bag By Far
My dog is a 16 years old Maltese. She's still quite spry for her age. However, she doesn't walk much anymore because she is almost blind.I travel quite a bit and I take my dog wherever I go. I've researched and purchased an enormous amount of dog traveling gear. I currently I have 3 backpacks (including this one) in the trunk of my car. Depending on where we're going and for how long dictates which backpack to put her in.I use this backpack mostly for traveling on planes and festivals/events. Sometimes I use this if I just don't feel like showing the BS "registered" service dog card or with places that don't adhere to service dog laws (ADA) like Chinese markets. I could hide my dog easily in this backpack. I shouldn't have to disclose that I'm Chinese, but I am in case anyone thinks I'm somehow being somehow racially biased by stating a FACT.This backpack has so much room for my 7 pound dog that I can store up to two days worth of clothes, toiletries and my tablet. It's perfect for air travel because the backpack can be placed on the floor horizontally and there's plenty of room. I used to have a carrying case just for my dog when traveling so either I would bring another backpack with clothes or a luggage roller. Now, I can reach for my tablet, water for myself and my dog, and any other electronic items I placed in the bag.I realized black is not an ideal color for summer outdoor events but there are a couple of things to consider when cooling down your pet.First, there is plenty of room in the compartment between you and the dog to place a cooling pad. In fact, there's a 7" x 10" compartment right up against the animal compartment.Second, I have two cooling blankets that I purchased for my dog. Even though it is freezing in my house, I was told by the vet that she shouldn't be breathing more than 30 times in a minute. The cooling blankets help a lot so I fold one and place it at the bottom of the animal compartment.Kurgo really did a great job designing this bay. The only criticism that really doesn't mean much is the two rods that come with the backpack are useless. It takes up too much space in the animal compartment. So if your dog is in the 20 pound range, they're pointless. That's pretty much it! If you made it all the way down here, you must be a pretty patient person.

Not perfect, but possibly the best option for some
I use this for a 4kg rescue cat. I think it’s overpriced, but it also seems to be the only pack of its kind on the market, so for me it’s worth it. Mostly I really like it, although when I use it I'm often finding ways it could be improved, and I’d buy an improved version. The good:Function - I travel regularly between two cities with my cat, a 90-minute commute that requires biking, walking, and several buses. Although I travel light, I generally need to bring a laptop and a few other items. This bag is perfect for that, and also inconspicuous and looks like a normal backpack. Pets are allowed on the bus, but my cat prefers not to have a lot of human attention, so he likes that he can see out the side vents, but people don’t notice him. The laptop compartment is roomy, although it won’t fit too much more than a laptop before it starts to intrude into the pet compartment. The pack is well-ventilated (at least for a cooler climate), and still keeps the cat dry in a light drizzle. It has a convenient number of pockets. I’m a smaller woman (47 kg, 162 cm) and had to adjust some of the straps to the shortest settings, but it’s not uncomfortable and I can wear it on my front as well.Cat rating - Cat is obsessed! I have to hide this to keep him from constantly trying to claw his way in, so instead he finds other backpacks in the house to curl up on. Granted, my cat was already excited about his carrier, and he likes to snuggle under covers and is not claustrophobic. Mileage may vary with other cats. I use additional padding in the bottom for longer trips. He can lie down, but there's not a ton of space left over, especially if I'm packing other stuff.Durability - I’ve had the bag a few months and it seems to be holding up well, even with abuse from the cat, who protests not being in the bag by trying to shred holes in it. As a result there are some minor perforations and runs in the fabric/straps, but it’s only cosmetic. The not-so good:Support - The hip straps really aren’t great. The pack doesn’t have a fully padded or detachable hip strap like the typical hiking pack, despite this pack being in a similar price range. Because the hip straps don’t actually fully encircle the hips, only the sides and the front, and the pack has no internal framing, the backpack tends to slide down in the back and hang off the shoulders, even with the hip straps fully tightened. If my pet were much heavier, this could be really uncomfortable.Security - I feel like this doesn’t offer much protection from bumps or from falls to the side, although for a more solidly-built animal than my little cat, perhaps this isn’t such a concern. The outward-facing part of the bag is soft and collapsible, and so the inner area is kept open during use by the weight of the cat in the hard base pulling the bag moderately taut against my shoulders. On the bus I’m always worried about people elbowing or pushing against my cat, and a bike accident could be catastrophic. The optional support bars add very little structure, aside from preventing the bag from completely folding in half. A better design (for cats or small dogs, anyway) might include plastic sheeting or boning inserted in the outer panel, top, and sides of the backpack, to give some reinforcement. I also don’t think the fabric is waterproof, and perhaps it should be at this price point.Price - I feel like it's good quality construction, but for a similar price you can get high-tech hiking backpacks with super light frames, waterproof fabrics, etc., while this is just a regular backpack with some extra padding and clever design elements. I feel they're able to price it like this because for whatever reason, most pet backpacks lack space for human storage.

Great for travel and running errands!
I've had this bag for awhile now, but just getting around to writing a review after I recently took my dog (10 pound pomeranian chihuahua mix) on a trip to Mexico. That's when I realized how much I loved this bag! For one thing, there are 3 vents on it (front and both sides), but my dog is still basically invisible inside. It doesn't look like a pet carrier, so we can fly under the radar easily. This works great, as my dog doesn't particularly like strangers, so she's able to watch without people trying to engage with her! It's also great because I can put her in the bag if I need to go into a grocery store or something, and no one realizes I have a dog, haha. (I also used this a couple times on buses where pets weren't strictly allowed...shhh).A note on flying with this bag: it met the dimensions for pet carriers on the airlines that I used, but I did run into an issue with one person at United who was hell-bent on telling me it wasn't a "real" pet carrier. Luckily her supervisor came to see it, saw that my dog had the room to move around and the requisite three vents, and approved it. But the original person was very difficult and seemed to think I was trying to get away with boarding a plane after just stuffing my dog into a backpack. It also just has a lot of nice features, with multiple pockets that are well thought out, high quality zippers, and is pretty comfortable/sturdy on the back. I think it's meant for hiking on longer trails with your dog, so it has some of those straps for comfort. All in all, a really great purchase that's super versatile, and that my dog loves too! (One of her cutest tricks is just hopping right in as soon as I put the bag on the ground!)

Bester Hunderucksack ever
