Ha more heft than an aluminum pot
Received and immediately put it to use cooking some white basmati rice. Very good liitle cooker, just like the same sized one in aluminum bought 11 years ago and still going. Aroma is a very good brand and I thought about Panasonic, Elite and even Zojirushi. But or the price this offered the most. Steel coated insert so, I put a teasp of oil before in water and rice. The pot has some heft to it which i like; feels more solid. The rice can stick at the bottom but nothing difficult to clean. Advice is to wash rice thoroughly so it doesn't sputter and spit, and use some oil Before the rice and water. 2:1 should be the ratio as 2 cups o water to one cup o rice. It turned out fluffy. Also best not to use any scouring pads or sharp objects. i don't want to try and see i it is all steel through as i just bought it and i don't want the trouble o returning it, One thing though, it goes to warm when finished cooking and better to unplug so more rice sticking at the bottom doesn't happen. My older one automatically shuts off as the keep warm faction doesn't work anymore. . What happens down the lane is yet to be seen. But I love it now, and I do miss rice if i don't eat eat it for a month and I am off aluminum, plastics etc. Cheap enough and I am careful enough not to worry about it at this point. Will update if it stops working in a short time, or something. Otherwise its a good simple gadget to have as the older one is kept by my ex.

Great little rice cooker
I've used this several times now for making either Basmati or Jasmine rice and I have to say it does work like a dream. It cooks in around 25 minutes. The cooker automatically switches to warm once the rice is done. I find if I leave it in the warmer for too long it does tend to stick to the bottom. So, I just set a timer and remove the rice once it's done. The measuring cup that comes with this cooker is actually 3/4 cup, so I use their measure, as they advise. I usually cook 2 cups (that is two 3/4 cups) of rinsed dried basmati rice to 2 cups (two 3/4 cups) water, and I'd say that's about the perfect amount for this cooker. Each type of rice has different rice to water ratios, so just check and follow the instructions on your bag. Some rice also has separate instructions for pot rice vs stove. I think if you do a straight conversion to their measuring cup it works well. Cleaning is a breeze, I fill and soak the inner pot with water and leave it for a while and it cleans up with minimal effort. I either hand wash the lid or put it in the dishwasher. The actual outer pot itself just gets a wipe down once it's cooled. It's small so doesn't take up too much cupboard space.

Almost perfect!
The product came with a dent in the pot. It looks like it was made from the inside out, and I canโt imagine an explanation as to how that would have occurred. The package came as the original product box with a shipping label attached. The productโs box seemed well-protected. The glass lid is in fine shape. Iโm happy with the rice cooker. It is smaller than I expected, but itโs totally a perfect size for me (and up to 1 or 2 more people!!) and I love how it doesnโt take up so much room. The rice server fits in the handle slot nicely, so I donโt need to set it down on the table. The rice serving paddle is not very heat resistant. The literature says not to use it when making soups. That surprised meโฆ The cord seems very short to me, but itโs workable. I donโt have a countertop to sit it on, so I used a power strip to reach to the top of a stack of boxes. At 300W, it doesnโt need very much power to work and cook. Iโm interested in buying a steamer basket attachment. That looks awesome for steaming veggies! I think itโs a great machine and worth the money, especially since thereโs all stainless steel!!! I love that there isnโt any plastic in contact with the cooking food. The fact that itโs stainless steel is the ONLY reason I bought this. I didnโt buy from anyone else because I wanted stainless steel. I hate Teflon and other unnatural garbage leeching into my food. The rice I cooked is perfect, and I think it is pretty healthy! Great job, Aroma! I love that Stainless Steel!

Much easier than standing around the stove. Can't mess this up.
As expected. The item is simple and gets the job done. The stainless steel bowl is nice, no plastics in your food and you can remove it from the cooker and eat out of it. Most complaints I read on here about these types of cookers, I found, come from fools who did not bother reading the instructions before use and/or have never cooked rice before. You CANNOT mess this up. It's a hot plate that comes with a bowl and lid. That's it. (Well, and other accessories, but you get the idea.) I cannot fathom any issues coming from anything other than human error when the appliance is so simple. 1) If your rice boils over and spills water while cooking it's because you didn't rinse it properly to remove the starches. That's basic rice cooking 101, and is included in the instructions. Spillage (when the stainless steel bowl is anti-spill due to the way its shaped) is nobody's fault but yours, for either overloading the cooker or not rinsing your rice well enough. 2) It comes with a plastic measurement cup. This measuring cup, when full, equals 1 industrial rice cup, which comes out to 3/4 of a US cup. This is explicitly stated in the instructions. Overload the cooker with regular US cups and you will have a bad time. I don't feel like looking at the listing again, but a valid complaint about the rice cup COULD be that the including the cooker's capacity in the listing without clarifying what kind of measurement system they're using to make that claim COULD be considered to be deceptive by some. I had a fine experience with it. It's easier than turning on the stove and waiting around to turn the temperature up and down and make sure nothing spills. I leave this thing alone for 30 min and come back to cooked rice. I add frozen veggies with no issue at all. Since it's just a hot plate and a stainless steel bowl you could heat/cook soup in it too. It's light, so I could see it being good for the elderly. TIPS: 1) Use it near in open window, or turn the fan on the first time you use it. This is not a complaint, since this happens to nearly every new appliance that heats up, but there is a bit of a chemical smell during first use. It's no problem since no plastic components directly touch the food, it's just the outer casing/body heating up for the first time. Giving it a good wipedown with a damp (not wet) rag before first use, as the instructions suggest, might help. 2) Remove the bowl before cleaning or applying downward pressure to it unless you want to damage the inner hot plate. Make sure the bowl is completely dry and clean on the underside before putting it in place and turning on the appliance, for the same reason. 3) The bowl can easily be cleaned by either eating your rice while it's still hot and rubbing/rinsing the leftover starches and rice at the bottom before it all has a chance to dry, or letting the bowl soak overnight and getting at it in the morning. I personally scoop all my cooked rice into a bowl the moment it's finished cooking, (careful, hot!) extract the bowl from the appliance, and rub the inside down with a soapy, wet, balled up paper towel to loosen everything up before the leftovers have a chance to dry and stick. Easy. 4) Cooking rice produces steam. Duh. Turn the lid so that the vent hole is facing the window or your stove hood fan so that your cabinets don't get humid. 5) Don't plug it in until you're ready to start cooking your rice because the appliance automatically starts warming when it's on. It'll change cook times, which may be catastrophic for the inexperienced. Unless your intent is to preheat. All in all: ๐ Yeah. It's useful. Would be better if they clarified what measurement system they were using when they made the listing. It's a small and simple rice cooker with a plastic outer body that warrants no more than a $25 price tag an an updated listing that is not misleading about their product's capacity.

This is my second rice cooker from this brand. I had the nonstick first which I ended up giving away because it was starting to scratch up. The stainless version feels much nicer comparatively. Even the cup and spatula that come with it is better quality. It cooks rice perfectly every time. For me thereโs always some rice that sticks on the bottom of these. I had the same problem with the nonstick. However some hot water and scraping the bottom with the spatula took it right off. The stainless version is so easy to clean and I highly recommend it.

Highly recommend! After 1 week, I'd never want without it!
Perfect, fantastic, easy to clean, you can cook in it open or closed. I go back and forth between hot and warm if I'm cooking something I don't want to overcook, but I still don't have to pay that much attention to it and it gets things done quickly and perfectly. I swear it seems to seal in a lot more flavor whether I'm cooking soup, frozen French fries, or whatever. Now I'm wondering why I spent so many years cooking in a pot on the stove, then scrubbing a pot and tinkering with all that temperature control and such. And this very shiny metal bowl cleans up quick like a charm, even if I have to soak it for a few minutes!

Know what to expect and how to use it
This is actually the second of this exact model Iโve owned. I gave away the first one a few years ago and it was still working fine. OK, letโs get a few issues out of the way first. First, rice โcupsโ do not equal regular measured cups. Itโs not a defect, this is the reality of how rice has been measured for decades and it is well documented. Second, stainless steel is not hard to take care of with minor planning. Rice will stick to the bottom. Soak it for a little while after using and the stuck rice easily washes off. Third, always thoroughly rinse your rice before cooking, rubbing it between your fingers until the water is almost clear. Now, on to making rice. Iโve used a Zojirushi for years but the teflon pot was getting scratched and I donโt want those chemicals in my food. I bought this small rice cooker for making single servings. Unfortunately, it does not do that well. When cooking small amounts, like less than a full rice cup, the cooker gets the water too hot and no matter how well washed your rice or even with oil added, it boils over constantly and shoots out the steam vent. You may notice the minimum water line in the pot is at one cup. So, how about we try making two cups? At that level, it works perfectly! There was a tiny bit of bubbling but no mess of water shooting out. Two cups is obviously too much for one serving though. A quick tip is that rice freezes and reheats very well. I always made large batches and froze single servings with the bigger Zojirushi. You just have to adopt the same method with this one. So, I knocked off a star because it does NOT work for small or single servings but it does work fine closer to its capacity.

Water spill everywhere and burnt rice
My experience was horrible. First it was splashing hot boiling water everywhere with the lid on. And after all of this, the rice is completely burnt. Completely unusable product.

Works well, no harmful coating on pot, easy to clean
Great little rice cooker! Good for 2-3 people, does not make a big splashy mess like our old one. Easy to clean. Stainless steel so much healthier than the teflon-coated pots.

Good rice-cooker but we probably should have ordered the 8-cup model.
A little small but this works well. We probably should have ordered the 8-cup size. Rice does stick to the stainless steel internal bowl more easily than non-stick versions, but you can scour the stainless steel and put it into the dishwasher.
