Big Joe Lumin SmartMax Fabric Chair, Fuchsia

This chair was for my 13 year old son's room for tv watching, video game playing, etc. Very nice quality and the large size was a nice surprise. He easily fits in it and it is comfy even for us adults. The downside is that the fill compacts very quickly. I had a bag of replacement fill (cost about 15 bucks) on hand which I use to fill up my kids stuffed animals so I have been able to refill it. The refill process is a little tricky (the fill pieces are super static and if you have some help filling it you will do better). I really packed in the fill but do see that it compacting again within a week, only the part where my son puts his rear end. He is not a heavy boy. I think that going forward I am going to start putting in some of the plastic shopping bags so it is a mix of fill and shopping bags. This should keep it still comfy feeling. You could also use old soft clothing, old towels, etc. The cover is pretty thick so I don't see that it will change the comfy feel if you use an alternate fill. One thing that I really like about the fill is that it makes it super easy to pick it up and carry it to another spot, room, etc. My 7 year old now wants one for his room. So, for the price I say that this is a great buy but do expect to have to add additional fill of some type. I also turn it upside down and redistribute the fill every couple of days (takes 30 sec) into the seat area.

It’s been months now and I decided to write the review about how it’s holding up. So, I just used half the bag of refill ‘beans’ today I just bought. It’s all back to perfection again. I love this chair. I’ve always loved bean bag chairs since I was a kid, but the fact this one has a shape where you can lean on the back and arms is SO much better. I’m a 5’3”, 128 lbs, 30-something year old, adult with very bad back and neck injuries since I was about 20. This chair gives me such a more comfortable place to sit than anywhere else. Yes, it’s a bit of a pain to get up from it because of my physical problems, but that’s not a huge price to pay for my comfort while sitting and playing video games or watching horror movies with my pups. The cover is so easily cleaned and I haven’t found one hole with daily use for months on end. It did, finally, need some more beans, though. I used half the bag, like I said, that I bought on Amazon from the same company and it’s like brand new again. I will, however, warn that refilling isn’t easy by yourself. Beans will stick to your hands (get in your shoes...) and fly everywhere else if you’re not SUPER careful. I think if I had had help, it would have worked out better. Definitely, absolutely, take it outside to do it. The zipper is a safety DOUBLE zipper and you have to ‘hook it’ with a paper clip to unzip. I would say safety pin, but I haven’t found a decent safety pin manufactured since I went through all of the old ones in my moms sewing kit to pin patches and such on my motorcycle jacket when I was a youngster. (Yes, I still wear the jacket...) So a heavy safety pin, undone, is best. Open it about 1/3 of the way and just cut about a 3.5” opening on the refill bean sack. Funnel it in and you should keep the disaster minimal. So, to conclude... This bean bag chair is better than shapeless ones. The material can stick to you if it’s too hot, but it’s so easy to clean. With daily use you will have to keep refill beans on hand every few months. All in all, it’s awesome and I’m thinking of buying another in a different fabric. :)

These chairs are great and seem to be very well made. My only complaint is that I received one chair in the wrong color. I ordered a fuchsia and green and got a green and blue. These are for our new play room and I have kids very excited to have these chairs and I don't want to take it away now to send it back and wait for a new one. Still bummed about the color but happy overall with the chairs. Yes it is very comfortable for adults but since they're low to the ground my 2 year old can very easily climb in and out and she has plenty of room to grow into it. I love that adults can use them in the playroom to play with the kids without sitting on the floor or using an uncomfortable child's seat. If you have a dual purpose room and need furniture for both young children and adults, I highly recommend these.

I hesitated to make this purchase for a great grandchild after reading the reviews but after thinking it over I decided that I would head off any problems. The chair arrived right on schedule. It has a double zipper that reinforces the opening and you have to use a paper clip to pull it open. this is so little ones can't open it and beads go everywhere. The chair is well made and the seams are solid. With reasonable care it will hold up fine. I wouldn't let the kids jump on it but then I wouldn't let them jump on other furniture either. The other problem that was mentioned in reviews was the chair wasn't filled properly. Well I opened this one intending to add the extra 2 packages of foam rubber that I had purchased to keep it from going flat. I couldn't squeeze another bead in. So now I will give my granddaughter the extra's and she will add them when needed. My grown son had one of these years ago and loved it. We had it over 10 years and yes, I would add a bag of foam ever so often. The only negative....the box is huge and took a lot of wrapping but it will be so fun that its so worth it.

I purchased the Big Joe Lumin Chair as a replacement of a smaller Big Joe Chair. It's size is perfect for my 10 year old son, he sits in it while playing video games or reading a book. It's large enough for my husband to sit in comfortably. I did have trouble getting the zipper to work, wasn't caught on fabric, it just didn't want to move. I added the beans from my old chair to fill out this one a little more. I've noticed the beans tend to flatten out over time. Other than the problem with the zipper I'm happy with my purchase.
