Buy this book in some form! Paperback or Kindle, both are great! *by D***R on Reviewed in the United States on January 2, 2021* Full disclosure, I worked with the author at the New England Aquarium many years ago. I have kept in touch with her and followed her career as the Penguin Lady after she left NEAq to pursue other dreams, of penguin rescue, educations and writing. You should also get her book "The Great Penguin Rescue." It is also on amazon, for all ages.I worked at NEAq for 30 years off and on as an Aquarist, now I am a teacher and sometimes aquarist...I didn't work with the penguins, I admired them from afar, and honestly, they weren't always nice to me on the couple of occasions I had to go into their exhibit...but their natural history and biology always fascinates me.I was asked to take a look at this book by the author and was provided a digital copy, and a paperback copy, I also obtained a version for my kindle account on my iPad thru the Amazon Prime Unlimited Kindle collection.As a marine and environmental teacher and an uncle of many, I do have some specific recommendations for each version, and one request I will be sending to the author.It is presented as a kid's book, and it is, especially the paperback version, it is perfectly sized for the little ones, and the art and colors are incredibly engaging to all who see them.My one wish and request I will send off to Dyan, is that her publisher produce a large coffee table book size version in hard cover or soft so we can enjoy the art as big as possible, it is that beautiful!My second recommendation of the highest level is the kindle version of this book, as you can see in the photo provided, it appears in full color on my iPad, and is formatted perfectly to flip through the wonderful info and art throughout.As a high school marine/environmental science teacher, I will plan on using the digital kindle version with my students during some remote lessons when we get to discussing marine birds. The information is extremely current, well written, and not dumbed down at all regarding everything from fun facts to hard science regarding everything penguin at a minimum all students of biology should know and it is a great jumping off point to further research all of the important issues about penguin biology addressed in it. I know my juniors and seniors will love it when we use it.It also features many costars that I regularly cover when investigating the Antarctic ecosystem with my students in the artwork and addressed in the text. So, it is not just a penguin book to me it is a whole ecosystem book. Predators, prey, reproduction, environmental conditions, adaptations, all of it...In closing, buy this book for every kid you know, most kids love penguins, this book will guarantee it, and will give them a solid foundation to grow from for the rest of their inquiry and education relating this great group of birds....and buy it for yourself, in digital or paper formats....or even better both. It is a fun read that is full of information and fun facts that a reader absorbs easily.Having the site words with the definitions in the glossary are a wonderful way for young minds to learn new words and concepts.The illustrations are beautifully done and incorporate the habitat with the other creatures that inhabit the penguins realm. My granddaughter, who is 8 years old took her time looking at the drawings every page before even reading the book.I thought I was well informed about penguins prior to reading the book. But guess what?
