Good common sense advice but some are kind of extreme
This book is an easy read. Got good points and things to consider when you're becoming a manager and leader. I find these to be mostly common sense but good to review it anyway I guess. Towards the end of the book, some of the advice and "recommendations" seem a bit extreme. I don't necessarily agree with the author's approach.

Good for Leaders and Future Leaders
Jennifer Wisdom's new guide is a fabulous follow-up to her first book on succeeding in the workplace. This second guide is helpful for people in a variety of roles, and offers both practical tips and mindset shifts. The “Millennials’ Guide to Management and Leadership” is divided into eight sections, the first of which is dedicated to preparing for a leadership role that you might want. The second section covers how to manage yourself, and after that the author go on to discuss issues with managing your staff and managing up. This makes it helpful for managers, leaders who want to expand their roles, and employees who want to become managers/leaders in the future. You can just jump to the appropriate section depending on where you are in your career. This guide gives many practical tips for networking, working with staff, having difficult conversations at work, etc. And it also encourages you to examine your thought processes and improve yourself as a person and as a leader, so experienced leaders can find some ideas for development, too.

Crucial information in plain English
If you're very, very lucky you might get a guidance counselor in college who will tell you _some_ of these things. These are things employers expect you to know without being told, and having a document that explains them without any corporate doublespeak is absolutely crucial to any kind of professional career. It's not a difficult read, it's extremely brief, and it's absolutely comprehensive. It's not something you need to mark up, because it's presented in such a way that it sticks in your brain without you making an effort to memorize it. I normally avoid anything vaguely related to "self-help" like the plague, but this is a very notable exception. Buy this and her "Millenials' guide to work" to get a solid foundation in "soft skills" for any technical field.

Buying this for my Millennial managers and leaders
“Millennials' Guide to Management and Leadership" is one of those rare gems that is both comprehensive and practically useful. Spanning both personal and interpersonal aspects of effective managers and leaders, the topics covered are both relevant and contemporary, reflecting the evolving nature of how we work successfully. Dr. Wisdom’s insight and experience shine through as she provides an array of insightful questions, potential approaches, and high-quality resources that allow the reader to make an informed decision regarding their situation. This book should be a go-to resource not only for Millennials in the workforce but for other generations in management and leadership as well.

Highly recommended!
I highly recommend this book for anyone looking to improve their leadership and management skills. I’ve read many books on the subject, but none have put the information in such a thorough manner. It has everything from preparing, to challenges one may face, development recommendations and more. As a millennial there was so much valuable and relatable information packed into this one book, though it can serve as a resource for people of all ages!

Pages cut off and pages out of order.
I opened the book today and up until page 17, the pages are cut off. The pages are also out of order. Will be returning, for another copy.

Most comprehensive and easy to read book I've seen on this topic!
I have spent the past 10 years developing myself as a manager and leader and then mentoring, supervising, and coaching others to become great managers and leaders. As I read this book, I had many reactions. First, it described so simply and clearly so much of my own journey and the steps I needed to take to become a manager and a leader. Second, boy do I wish I had this book as I was going through that growth process. I did have a great mentor who guided me through much of what was in the book and also read and pursued a lot of training in management and leadership, as described in this book. But sometimes you do not really understand who each of those pieces go together. This book put it all together to show how each part of the training and mentorship fits with specific training goals and career growth. Third, I am now so excited to have a resource like this to share with the people I now mentor, supervise and coach. It includes so much of what I personally strongly believe is important, all in one quick reference guide, and it's got some of the best additional resources at the end. What I especially loved and appreciated about those additional references at the end is that the self-awareness section included essential works on understanding white privilege and how it effects your ability to be a great leader - not expected but so appreciated in a book on leadership in today's world. I am, without a doubt, planning to recommend this book to others who are embarking on their leadership journey.
