It fell from quite a height, and at least did not shatter into a million pieces, so clean up was not so bad. You can use it as a serving platter, but we use it for everyday plates because we like to have everything on one plate, and this has plenty of room. It is also very light, so is easy to handle, even for older people. After years of use, there is no discoloration, always looks brand new.
