Best Grooming Experience
The BFWood Boar Bristle Beard Brush has become a staple in my grooming kit, and I’ve used it across a wide range of body and hair grooming tasks to understand where it shines and where it doesn’t quite hit the mark. Let’s get straight to it—this brush is rugged, tactile, and has the right amount of weight in hand. The military-style design isn’t just a look—it actually fits comfortably into the palm and gives you the control you want, especially when working through dense facial hair or shaping up neckline transitions. What stood out early on was the firmness of the bristles. These aren’t overly stiff to the point of scraping skin, but they’ve got enough backbone to tame medium to thick beard types, and they glide well through dense patches without dragging. On shorter beard lengths (think stubble to about 1cm), it’s decent for exfoliating and lifting the hairs slightly for balm or oil application. You’re not really brushing a style in at that stage, but it does help prevent ingrowns and keeps the face from looking patchy. As my beard reached a thicker medium length (2–4cm), that’s when this brush really came into its own. It distributed oils beautifully and got right down to the skin, making post-shower grooming far more effective. If you’re someone who uses beard balm or wax, this brush presses and distributes product evenly without clumping—big plus. With long beards (5cm+), especially coarse or wiry types like mine can get in winter, the bristles still reach surprisingly deep. Though at this stage, it’s better paired with a detangling wide-tooth comb beforehand to avoid any snagging at the base.I’ve tested it on chest hair, too—for anyone who grooms beyond the face. It’s surprisingly good at gently guiding and aligning the growth direction without irritating the skin. For arm and leg hair, it feels a bit overkill unless you’ve got exceptionally thick hair or are applying oil after shaving or trimming. I also used it on my scalp hair at medium length (5–10cm) and noticed it’s not the best replacement for a regular hairbrush. It doesn’t penetrate deep enough unless your hair is short to medium and relatively straight or wavy. For long hair—say shoulder length or more—it’s pretty ineffective unless you’re using it to brush the surface for shine, not for detangling. However, I did try it on the sides of my head where I keep a fade, and it worked well to keep things clean between barbershop visits. The black walnut handle gives the brush a premium aesthetic, and it’s held up well through daily use. I’ve dropped it a few times on tile and it barely shows a scratch. It’s also small enough to travel with, making it ideal for maintaining a well-groomed look on the go. What I really appreciated was that even after weeks of use, it didn’t start losing clumps of bristles—just the usual few during the first couple of uses, which is expected with natural boar brushes. The downsides? It’s not suitable for very short or patchy beards that haven’t filled in yet—it can feel a bit too firm and pointless if there isn’t enough hair to grip. It also won’t work well on thick, curly afro-textured hair unless it’s part of a broader routine that includes detangling or a heavier comb. And if you’ve got a beard that’s over 10cm, you’ll find yourself wanting a longer-handled brush with more reach. But for 90% of bearded men—especially those with medium-length, dense, or slightly coarse facial hair—this brush is an excellent tool for conditioning, styling, and keeping things neat. It's also useful as a pre-styling tool before using a heated beard brush or applying balm.In summary, if you’re a guy who maintains a beard anywhere from light stubble up to medium-long length, or if you’re someone who values a proper grooming ritual with oils and balms, this brush delivers. It's affordable, durable, classy, and practical. I keep mine right next to my safety razor and beard oil because it’s earned its place. Whether you’re refining your grooming game or need a solid brush to pair with your product kit, the BFWood military-style boar bristle brush is a confident buy.

Firm Bristled Brush
For some reason, i have never actually used a brush before for my beard, just a comb. I really regret this now, this brush is amazing.Whilst using it, i remind myself of my dearly departed dog, her back leg used to jiggle in glee when i brushed her. I have a medium length beard, and despite this brush being quite firm, it really feels amazing, not quite leg jiggling, but not far off! Really helps comb out the loose hairs, and without wanting to sound horrible, any dry skin too.My beard already feels much softer, and looks better. Do be warned that it is quite stiff bristled and as this is my first brush, im unsure if this is the norm, but it certainly exfoliates the skin beneath the beard! Very good quality brush , highly recommended.

Good brush, but iffy for the boar.
This brush is a great size. It fits easily in the hand and does the brushing job well. I would have given it five stars had I not found out that the boars were probably kept for their harvest of bristles and possibly in not very good conditions. I presumed they were killed for meat and this was a bye product.

Great quality, feels nice to use, does the job it’s supposed to.
The product is well made and feels nice to use. The shape makes it a little difficult to use on specific areas like moustache. But it’s great for beard hair. It’s a little scratchy on the skin, but you get use to it. It’s separates and brushes beard hair really nice and straight.

Decent sturdy beard brush
This was a little more expensive than my last brush which served my small beard absolutely fine. The bristles on this feel sturdier which is good for holding my beard in place while I blow dry (yes I do that). The wood looks better in the photo I must admit, but still looks a nice classy brush, if that's important to you. Seems to be holding out nicely in the first few weeks so I expect this to be a decent brush.
