DO NOT go with this system!

*by K***L on Reviewed in the United States on May 3, 2017*

What a terrible system! TLDR: do NOT purchase this, and instead go with something more expensive with a well known brand, or go with the X16 system (non-VoIP).My company installs telephone systems full time and we've installed hundreds and hundreds of systems (usually Avaya, Cisco, etc). We've had a few budget customers come to us over the years who have wanted cheaper systems so we put in the XBlue X16 for all of them and they were happy, so we assumed XBlue's products were all good. We had another budget customer come to us at the end of last year who we originally sold on the X16, but they needed more phones than the X16 could support. We thought "why not give the X25 a try?" but yikes what a mistake. The system initially seemed easy to install and get setup, but we quickly realized there were a ton of issues. Calls would get dropped randomly, hold didn't work, transferring didn't work, voicemail didn't work, etc. It just seemed and felt very buggy and cheap, and had that knock-off feel to it. The web interface looks like it was a router with VoIP functions added to it, and was almost useless. We called support, which was horrific!! The way their support works is you call an answering service which takes your name and number and then tech support calls you back. Most call backs took 4-6 hours, and a few times they wouldn't call us back until the next day. This was terrible for us because we would be on-site at the customer's location trying to fix a problem, and would have zero ability to get in touch with tech support. We couldn't just wait around at our customer's office for a undetermined amount of time, waiting for a call.Tech support was utterly worthless and would provide suggestions that didn't solve the problem. They suggested a firmware update to fix the bugs we were experiencing, and insisted that they couldn't wait on the phone while the firmware update was applied. Sure enough we ran the firmware update and the problem still existed, so we immediately called back (10 minutes later) and had to wait 3 hours for the tech to call us back. They suggested using the XBlue server in a non-standard format from the way the instructions are written and said that would almost surely solve the problem. We reconfigured it as they suggested, as well as bought a new switch (as they suggested) and nothing solved the problems. Their final answer was simply that they had no clue what was causing the problem and they couldn't continue to help. After spending about 6 hours changing every setting in the web interface on the server (by ourselves, without the help of support), we finally found the issue to be a NAT transversal setting. We turned it off, and suddenly all of the "bugs" went away. We specifically asked XBlue support about this and they said to not turn NAT transversal off. Well we turned it off and everything was fixed....seriously!? A simple checkbox was what we had spent probably 15 hours total trying to fix, and XBlue support had no clue?Another major flaw with this system is that the echo cancellation is terrible. I've been dealing with telecom for many years, and when clients say that their systems are echoing it means that the echo cancellation module is failing. In a perfect world you shouldn't need it, but older wiring from the CO in buildings that isn't terminated properly can cause it, and you need an echo cancellation module to mask the problem. XBlue's is terrible on the X25 and it is very sensitive to any issues. You should be fine if you're using a cable provider for telephones that isn't running over traditional wireline service and they install their ATA right next to the XBlue system, or if you're using SIP trunking. The only reason for two stars and not one is because after the nightmare setup experience, we finally got it technically working correctly. That being said, the customer doesn't really like it and there are many flaws such as lack of features or inability to customize things. We will never install one of these systems again.

Can be touchy to set up, especially the voice mail and afterhours features. Truly novice users might struggle, but if you know networking and computers in any fashion you can get this phone system working fairly easy. Using in a 7 phone Veterinary clinic.

The XBlue X25 system was extremely easy to set up by a first-time user. It was self-installed in a matter of minutes. I purchased the X25 model because of the rich feature set. It's amazing that a phone with so many programmable features was virtually plug and play.
