Bob's Red Mill Mung Beans, 27 oz

I have a hard time finding bean sprouts locally, so I decided it was time to sprout my own. This was my choice of bean, and I made the right decision. Bob's is well-known for quality, and that holds true with this product. The beans all sprouted as expected and were a joy to eat.

I have been sprouting for decades and tried many brands of mung beans. This Bob's Red Mill brand is the best sprout I have found since my mother gave me my first sprouter and seeds. The sprouts were long with a mild flavor. Plus the roots are edible unlike other sprouts I tried. Other brands have had massive fibrous roots that are like eating plastic string or silver skin.

After not seeing beans sprouts in the store for some time, I decided to try my hand at DIY sprouts. I had never done it before, so I bought a bag of these along with a seed sprouter also bought on Amazon. Following the instructions I picked up along the way, I soaked the beans overnight and into the sprouter they went the next day. A Korean You Tuber said they must be rinsed and drained every 3 hours around the clock. I failed at that timing a few times, but it didn't cause a problem. Within 3 days, I had to un-stack the sprouter trays to make more room. While it's true they're not like the ones that used to be sold in stores, they're a very nice alternative! I pick the pods off after it's obvious they're just hanging there and 4-5 days of frequently rinsing well and draining, I had 3 nice trays of fresh, clean and slightly nut flavored sprouts. Sauteed them in butter. Delicious!

These are good quality beans. They germinated quickly and provided great tasting sprouts. Bob's Red Mill can always be counted on to produce good quality products.

These are great, super sprouters! Very vigorous. they are super clean and picking over didn't produce rocks. Easy to sprout, they were sprouting after the first soak and just got better each day. I love a handful of sprouts on salad, or in stir fry, or on top of pho. Bob's red mill is a product I am fairly brand loyal too, I have had good luck with all their products, so when I decided to sprout my own beans I turned to them and I'm very happy with the result.

I sprout everything all the time. I like the Mung beans because the sprouts are great for my tortoises as they need the calcium it provides. These sprout quickly in my sprouter. You will need to rinse them often to keep them from getting a foul odor. I rinse them and remove all the seed pods as they grow. Once about 2 inches long I then put them in the window sun to green up. They will get leaves at this point. I eat them in salads or use them in my cooking. I allow them to get leaves and green for my turtles.

I gave a good review previously, as I thought I had something wrong. I think the flavor is ok, but these beans have very short sprouts, about 1/2", which is ok for salads, but not for use in Asian recipes. I used to buy Mung Beans and sprout into long, 2 - 3" sprouts, which is ideal. I am very disappointed.
