Ideal melatonin product for kids, and it WORKS!
My pediatrician recommended giving my son a 1-mg dose of melatonin before bedtime to help with his sleep issues. Despite having a solid bedtime routine, wearing-down period, attention to evening diet and fluids, lighting control, etc. my child has always had difficult crossing the threshold to sleep. When, at age 4, he was still fighting sleep 3 and 4 hours after bedtime by bouncing around his bed and making noises, I was determined to get some help for him. It wasn't healthy or normal for a child and it was detrimental to his life in his waking hours. A bad cycle for everyone! So when my pediatrician assured me that melatonin works well, is safe and natural, and non-habit forming, I was excited to give it a try. Most of what I found in drugstores was a non-chewable tablet, so I checked on trusty Amazon and found these chewables with great reviews. The very first night we used them, my son was sweet, pleasant, and sleepy during his bedtime routine and he went right to sleep without a fuss. My husband and I were very surprised at how quickly and well this worked! Our 2 year old daughter is a better sleeper by nature but when she is going through a difficult phase we cut a tablet in half and it really helps her too. I have started taking it myself when I have the urge to be a night owl and I can personally attest to the effectiveness of melatonin. It doesn't MAKE you go to sleep, it just helps your body to get there and you wake up feeling well rested. After a few months of using melatonin for my son, I am seeing even greater benefits. His physical growth has taken off because he is getting the proper rest that he needs, and he is more balanced and able to reach his full potential in daily activities. He is also more aware of when his body needs to rest. I can't fully describe what we've been through in the last 4 years, but melatonin is truly a miracle and I would recommend it to anyone with sleep difficulties.

Helps me get to La La land.
I have a whole system set up for bedtime. Including a few other items like magnesium and L- Thianine which I take to start winding down. One of the things that I really like about this aside from the flavor, it seems like youโre having candy, is the fact that I can take this after I have brushed my teeth for the night because the sweetener in it is sorbitol, hey Siri, what Is sorbitol? It is a sugar alcohol. It does not contribute to tooth decay. . I take two 3 mg. Tablets And I am off to sleep within a half an hour. I have found that this is what works best for me.

Daughters Love These
Iโve purchased these numerous times. They work fantastic. My twin daughters 12yrs old both have AD/HD and are on their prescription medications. Their meds make them wired and itโs difficult for them to go to sleep especially during school days is when they take their AD/HD meds. So we swear by Melo Chew. They taste great and works like a charm. Iโve purchased some other melatonin products before and got scolded by both of them to please only order Melo chew. So they take 3-5 chewable depending on how wired they are before bedtime. It helps them be able to calm down and have a restful sleep before waking up for school. I did discuss this their pediatrician and our pediatrician says it is fine to take these every night if they need them. I too sometimes take these when I canโt sleep and it does help me get a restful sleep. They taste great and we are happy with Melo Chew.

Can't be without it!
We have been using these chewable melatonins to put our kids to bed nightly for the past 7 years. All it takes is a 1mg dose, (for the younger kids, ages 4&6, I break it in half and give them only half a mg) and they are falling asleep in no time. Without this, bedtime used to drag on for hours and hours. I like that it's not habit forming, and that I have never needed to increase the dose, even with my autistic son who used to stay awake the whole night roaming the house before we discovered melatonin. He's been taking 1mg nightly for 7 years and it helps him so much. I like going to bed knowing that he is safely asleep in his bed. The taste is pleasant, they are small and easy to chew. My kids never complain.

MEL-O-CHEW chewable WORKS FOR ME
MEL-O-CHEW 1mg Melatonin works well for my purposes and what would be expected. I have been ordering them since 4/18/2018 regularly and last order was 1/19/22 (two bottles). For my purposes I use 5 tablets (5mg's total) before retiring. They work quickly for me in giving me that boost to nodding off at night. My relative recommended them to me as they preferred them as being a Kosher product (they occasionally take 1mg and sometimes for their kids too. Kosher, if it is a recognized symbol, has an extra layer of supervision for production. She had checked out the approval symbol as being legitimate and recognized. I tried a different brand that was a slow release brand in the same amount that I was taking (5mg) and it did not work for me. I guess I needed the melatonin boost all at one time. I've read and was advised by my physician's assistant and later from my doctor that taking up to 10mg was safe and not a problem so I edged myself up one tablet at a time to the "dosage" that worked best for me. One more mg. gave me no extra benefit so I was able to be satisfied at 5 chewables. Over the last almost four (4) years I haven't identified any difference in consistent quality so I am satisfied. I now buy two bottles at a time so that I have one in stock. With supply chain that's my thing. Melatonin gives you a boost for sleep. It is not a sleeping medicine that knocks you out for the whole night. It helps you get to sleep, you may sleep all night or not. I need the boost and it works for me.

Play with the dose! No need for it when your child is tired...
Our 4 year old daughter is being assessed by the Seattle Children's Hospital Autism Center. The screening includes very long interviews with the parents about the child's behavior. During one of these discussions sleep patterns came up. Our daughter has had difficulty sleeping since infancy. She takes a long time to get to sleep and wakes during the night. The nurse practitioner who has our case told us that recent research shows children who have Autism or Asperger's often do not producing enough melatonin. She recommended chewable melatonin (not specifically this brand) for our daughter. This is the first brand I tried and so far very good results. Our daughter does not mind taking the pills, so I guess the taste is OK. The tricky part is getting the right dose for your child, so here is my experience which you might find useful. The nurse practitioner recommended I try a 1mg dose with her, and then increase the dose if it seems to have no effect. So, I started with 1 mg, which seemed to have almost no effect. When I gave her 2mg, she got tired rather suddenly but not in a good way - more like the too tired meltdown, which made the whole bedtime routine worse. I tried the 2mg dose a couple of times to be sure - it turned out that it worked well on some days but not others. The trick was that it was too much melatonin on certain days of the week but not others. Here's why. One thing to note is your child's routine. For instance, my daughter is always more tired towards the end of the week. She is in half day daycare, which is very challenging socially, followed by a half day special education program, where they work very actively with her. Between the two environments, she is exhausted. For several years, the house rule has been to limit after-school activities, shopping, dining on Thursdays or Fridays because she is so tired (which means moody.) On those days when she is tired anyway, I don't even use the melatonin. The other days I use 2 mg and it works very well. I am hoping at some point she will be getting enough sleep earlier in the week that she won't be so tired towards the end of the week! I would like to experiment with 0.5 mg, but haven't gotten a pill cutter yet. Good luck with this product! -Karen Takatani
