Many flaws in this textbook, I would give it zero stars if I could. I'll break down a couple. One is the inconsistency in content. It will give you a list of vocabulary you learn in the textbook, which leaves one to assume that's all you need for the chapter. But then the chapter content itself introduces and defines tens of words that you're expected to know later, with not even a mention in the vocab list. Disappointing. Everything should be compiled with clear expectations of what's needed to learn a new language at each step.Second, there are glaring errors in the online access which this text is completely reliant upon to teach you anything. Honestly, the contents of the text are incoherent and sloppy at best without the online assignments to literally fill in the gaps. Conjugation charts are incomplete, and the only feedback you get for filling them out online is wrong wrong wrong, I had to look up answers online because I couldn't find them in the book and couldn't intuit it due to a lack of information given before the assignment.I like to take physical notes of key information, like grammar rules and practice sentences. This textbook doesn't clearly lay out grammar rules, instead giving various abstract interpretations of key concepts like sentence structure. Practice sentences are a joke: examples are like "Juan es bueno" and then the homework asks you to write an entire minibiography on some random chef.It puts too much focus on tying the language to the various cultures who use the language, and not enough on ensuring understanding of the language itself. This is a joke of a text, and I regret taking the class that required this textbook. If my professor wasn't kind and very understanding, I would have dropped the class from how awful this textbook was for me.
