I got mine about 17 months ago. About a month or two ago it stopped opening and closing automatically, even though you could hear the motor giving it a try.I figured it needed cleaning, since we are using it for compost so decided to give it a try.Unfortunately one of the screws were rusted and I was not able to open the device manually.As a last resort I tried a small can of WD-40. Simply put, the unit works like it was brand new again! (Disclaimer: I would recommend contacting the manufacturer before trying this yourself. My setup uses four batteries and is not hooked up to any of the house electrical wiring.)This device gets used every day as it is a compost bin located next to the kitchen sink. Anything which is biodegradable ends up in here. It is awesome that it opens and closes by itself.Note to self: needs to be cleaned a little more regularly.I would purchase it again.

What they dont show anywhere is that there is a black piece inside the can when u get it that tucks in the bag so u never see the bag on the outside of the can which makes this neat and tidy! I use this on my countertop for compost scraps and since I got it I never smell compost at all! Only issue is its hard to find reasonable cost replacement filters however they are just charcoal filters so buy activated charcoal filters for fish tanks and u have the filters cheaper and accessible any time :) also the jell pack lemon scent u get with this is the same jelly that comes in any odor eliminator jelly or smelly jelly so just refill it :)I love this can and if it broke I'd buy another.

Nice space saver in one tiny and one small bathroom. I was a bit skeptical from a few reviews; however, my two have worked perfectly. They fit with decor, nice quality, seem durable.
