Worth the Hype!
The media could not be loaded. I bought these for my child who is starting her Waldorf Form Drawing unit. I am very pleased with my purchase. My first grader loves these crayons and is super thrilled each time I bring them out.Pros:They were well packaged and arrived on time. They are very pigmented and have highly vibrant colors. They are very smooth and slide easily on paper. The colors have an almost fluid quality and takes very little pressure to get rich color. They are non-toxic, organic, made of bees-wax (25%) and do not contain any petroleum based ingredients. They are very easy for young children to use.Cons:The colors tend to come out on hands but can be easily cleaned up. Perhaps having a label may prevent this transfer. The price point is a little high but definitely on par with similar products.Overall, this is a good buy and I will update further as we continue to use.

worth the switch from standard crayons
Wish I'd gone ahead and switched to beeswax crayons years ago! These are fantastic. I wanted to try beeswax crayons for years but held off since they are expensive. Crayons were a common gift and I felt wasteful buying a different version of something we already had. But whenever we pulled out the crayons, I would think about how long it takes most crayons to break down - 100's of years! Little by little I am replacing things with natural alternatives and I wish I hadn't waited so long to make this switch. The colors are bright and vibrant. These are just as bright and vibrant as leading standard crayons like Crayola. There is a pleasant mild beeswax smell. Filani crayons have a softer feel in your hand than other standard crayons like Crayola or Prang. They go on very smoothly, perhaps comparable to using oil pastels. I don't like kids versions of things, especially art supplies, as I find it usually just means cheap and hard to use. IDK if there is an artist quality for crayons, but these are definitely not cheap kids quality. These feel like art materials, not a kids imitation. I also I am very pleased that they are made in the US. Major bonus there! These are worth the price.I will happily be donating our standard crayons and making the switch for our family.

Natural crayons lets compare...
I have been on the search for perfect natural crayon. Here is my review of the three i’ve tried. Filana, faber castell and honey sticks.Filana: I like these alot. Very nice vibrant colors. They blend well together and you can really make some nice art. Like adult nice art. They are super high quality. I like that they are all natural and Made in USA. The cardboard box they come in does get worn pretty fast.Faber castell: also very nice vibrant colors, not as natural i believe. I like the box it comes with to keep the crayons organized, although not keen on more plastic in this world. Triangular shape is nice for teaching proper grip for kids. Huge negative for me is that when the paper falls off the crayon (which eventually happens with freqent use) the crayon stains your hands. Sorry but i dont want chemical color on my kids hands especially becausebthese crayons are Made in China.Honey sticks: these really smell like honey. So hoping they are as natural as they claim. I like them for small kids but you cant really make ‘art’ with them. So really any kid 4 and up who is into drawing or coloring would not choose these. They are kind of sticky going on paper and definitely do not blend when trying to combine colors. But that honey smell is pretty nice. Lol maybe too enticing for trying to eat???? I gave mine away to a friend with small kids. These are Made in New Zealand.Overall I like these filana crayons best based on performance and naturalness and yeah they dont stain and are made in usa. Also costumer service is pretty awesome.

Easily breaking apart
The crayons are so brittle that they are breaking apart upon slight impact

Beautiful tools!
I love these crayons!I've been a diehard Crayola fan for years. I was one of those teachers that fell into the category of always recommending Crayola on the school supply list. I am home with my two little ones now and I was looking into better crayons for them. I'm not necessarily concerned about the wax content and naturalness of the crayon. I was looking for something that would last a long time, hopefully not break, be pretty colors, and a beautiful tool to use. We haven't gotten to use the crayons much yet so I can't attest to them breaking, but I can say that the colors are vibrant and I can tell that they will last us for a long time.I purchased the 12 pack of stick crayons and the 12 pack block crayons. I like it that the colors match up perfectly between the two kinds of shapes. I also purchased a wood holder from a seller on etsy so that we could display our new tools. Another reason I decided to buy these crayons was because they are a beautiful tool to use. I want my children to learn to appreciate and take care of their art supplies and I thought that by buying a high quality, well made product, they would be more likely to take care of their colors. You can't go to Walmart and buy a new pack for $1 if you destroy them. I'm excited that my kids have such great crayons to use!

The big question is: Filinas or Stockmar?
Well, I bought both and did a comparison. In my opinion I’m glad I bought both because they are different enough that I like them both!! Filina’s are waxier than stockmar. They have bright bold colors and I like how they really fill in an area. However, for the kids in my classroom I think I’ll stick with stockmar. They feel better when held and kids with texture issues won’t be bothered by stockmar. Filinas tend to warm a bit in your hand and feel slightly stickier. But for my own drawings, I like to have both!!-A Waldorf Art and Handworks teacher.
