Can these be screwed into a vertical 2 x 4?** A: Hi, I measured one of the levelers I installed and the spacing was 1 5/8”. I did not install it on a vertical 2 x 4 but a sample 2 x 4 I had in the garage, measured 1 ½” so I think the spacing on the leveler would be too wide to directly install on the narrow side of a 2 x 4. Worked ok, but I found that over time the saw would be too low or too high. I wanted something I could adjust (vs shimming) and saw this idea somewhere on the internet. So far, so good. It’s much easier to turn a wrench than the guesstimate how thick or thin a shim needs to be. Hardware was good quality, with no sharp edges or deformed parts.
