Interesting rules, seem a little cumbersome as each character and his stats needs to be differentiated and tracked. Could get complicated the larger the number of characters gets... I'll give it a try though. My son was interested in the mini-game swordplay mechanics.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Excellent Expansion

Cleaned up some of the minor issues with Ronin. Pretty much the system is Ronin V2 with expanded weapons and some rules to allow it to cover European groups at a similar tech level. I especially liked the improved warband/buntai creation format although the cost changes make for some silly breakpoints. If you liked Ronin, you should love this, especially if you always wanted that elite mixed buntai. I liked the regular/elite division, similar to Ronin's Bushi buntai, where either you have to deal with Rank 1 & 2 models (regular) or simply make everything Rank 3+ (elite). Converting Ronin over to En Garde or simply having a matchup between lists from each game is very doable. At a minimum, simply decide which combat rules to use, either Ronin's generic "enhanced" die rolls or En Garde's more varied "ploy" die rolls. The biggest pity IMO is Mr. Woodfield's absolute refusal to even try to support anything that would make Ronin (and I guess En Garde) more tournament friendly since this will limit the growth of the player base, but since it is a niche market, it probably doesn't hurt. My favorite part of the game is still the combat mechanics....and the fact that it isn't Yet Another Song of Something Or Other clone like so many of these Osprey games. Nice enough system (Song of...), but this one is so much cleaner and varied.
