I like the simplicity of the 'Step by Step' series.

It is good book, and price.

I thought Burnam's Books 1-3 were excellent for beginners. By the time I completed Book 4, I was tired of the monotonous pieces writtenor arranged by the author. I believe that Burnam, from Book 3 on should have used pieces that were familiar to most beginners. Theaccompanying CD which demonstrated HOW the piece should sound, was intimidating. How can this help someone learning to playthe instrument when the music is performed by a professional?As I continued with books 5&6, I realized Burnam was trying to cover everything she thought a pupil should know --- but as an advancedintermediate player, not a 2nd level intermediate player (e.g .rolls, difficult trills, difficult pedaling notations).I didn't bother after the first few pages of Book 6. Instead I purchased "Simply Chopin" and found the challenge of a piece was worth the effortI put into it because it actually sounded "like" the piece I was familiar with (e.g. Etude #3 Op 10).My progress was stunning half way through the book and my confidence level boosted immensely.

It's pretty good.

Very good book! My little boy which is seven, play from this book! We have also had the other books! From book 1! Good quality!

Ich hatte schon einmal ca 1,5Jahre Klavierunterricht und suchte nach einer Schule, die sich für das autodidaktische Lernen eignet,bis ich wieder Unterricht nehmen werde.Die Schule hat im englischsprachigen Raum durchweg positive Bewertungen-auch von vielen Erwachsenen,die wieder in das Klavierspiel einsteigen wollen oder damit beginnen möchten-.So bestellte ich zunächst a dozen a day Heft 1-3 und step by step Heft 3-5 und bin am Überlegen,ob ich auch noch die ersten beiden Hefte bestelle, um die "Basiskenntnisse"wieder aufzufrischen.Die Hefte sind didaktisch sehr gut aufgebaut!Es macht sehr viel Spaß,zusammen mit der Cd zu üben(jedes Stück ist in einer langsamen Übeversion und schnellen Playbackversoon auf der CD).
