Q: Hi, I am new to wood working. Can I just drill 3/4 inch hole in my work bench and use these(or similar products)

No. These are 0.769 inches in diameter and a 3/4" hole is 0.75". They are too big for a 3/4" hole. Drill a 20mm hole (0.7874") and they will fit.

Q: Same as 79-010 pegs? My WM is model 79-020 (very old) and literature names 79-010 pegs.

The package says "SWIVEL GRIPS. Fits all Black & Decker Workmate Products". I don't know 79-020? Sorry!

Q: Are these hold fast or just stops?

These are clamps to hold boards in place and lined up to hold tight with crank arm to allow sawing or sanding the boards. It works real well as the width allowance is varying and it can be very wide too. Hope this helps.

Q: Do these fit an aluminum old school durable Workmate from the 1970's?

The original workmate 79-001 has .75" holes not 20mm. You would have to enlarge the holes for them to work. What is good, is that any standard 3/4" dogs or accessories fit fine in the original.
