I am very confident in the quality because of Solgar’s longtime excellent reputation. There is no odor or flavor at all. Did not upset my stomach at all. The pills are too gigantic for me to swallow, though, so I am trying to find a much smaller version by Solgar. I have a small mouth and throat.

Without trying to get into the argument if food supplements work - or not -, at least the agreement among those who think they do work is that Calcium is best when taken with vitamin D is mostly universal, as it scientifically proven that vitamin D helps the calcium to be assimilated by the body. What "number" of is best, that's another matter, but this product has some D on it so it should be better. again, based on the knowledge we have today and the opinion of the majority, which as we know, can change in a heartbeat As per Solgar, I've been a client of this brand for a while and have no complains, they seem to be made of good ingredients, are easy to swalow and the price is right

After strongly craving chocolate and cheesy pizza i figured it due to a calcium deficiency. To test the theory, i purchased this product. The dosage is 4 pills, though i took 1 at first to se what would happen. After a few weeks i raised it to 2 and noticed a big difference in my cravings. Recently, i switched it to 3 pills and my cravings for cheese and chocolate seem to be gone (they still taste good, i just don't _crave_ them.) As i take a multivitamin which includes calcium, i seem to be getting the recommended 1000mg. http://ods.od.nih.gov/factsheets/Calcium-HealthProfessional/ states, "calcium carbonate is absorbed most efficiently when taken with food, whereas calcium citrate is absorbed equally well when taken with or without food" This product, being citrate, need not be taken with food. Also, "Absorption is highest in doses ≤500 mg. So, for example, one who takes 1,000 mg/day of calcium from supplements might split the dose and take 500 mg at two separate times during the day." The directions do not mention this, though it does not seem to be a problem for me. Finally, "Vitamin D intake: this nutrient, obtained from food and produced by skin when exposed to sunlight of sufficient intensity, improves calcium absorption." which is handled by the included D3. The pills are large and smooth, and readily dissolve in water. I found out the latter when leaving the pill on a wet counter. Oops! Swallowing the pill needs slight concentration to direct the pill while straight and make sure it does not turn before reaching the throat. Otherwise, it occasionally will turn and be uncomfortable or even hurtful when swallowing. As it begins to dissolve right away, it dries the tongue. So, whereas i find i can easily swallow numerous pills at once without additional water, these are much easier and more comfortable with water. Pros: Solgar Quality Citrate as opposed to carbonate Smooth pill aids swallowing D3 included Cons: Large pills Ho-hums: No mention in directions that it may be best taken <=500mg at a time Overall, this is a good product that works well. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who wants calcium as a supplement.

Because I can’t have dairy, I was looking for a good calcium that doesn’t have dairy that I can take. The pills are a bit big although, I don’t have trouble getting them down. They seem to work fine and I intended on ordering more when I run out of these.

I take these everyday. Calcium is important and I don't want something with any taste or aftertaste. These are good and cost effective for the price. Never had an issue when I have had my bloodwork done, calcium is always in a good range.
