Baking Soda: Over 500 Fabulous, Fun, and Frugal Uses You've Probably Never Thought Of Review: Baking soda has many uses - I knew there were many uses for baking soda. As I am reading through this book I am surprised at all the uses. Today I added baking soda to my laundry and my laundry came out of the washer without that smell that I can't identify but is not pleasing to my nose. I live in a senior community apartment building. Others using the washers may or may not know how to wash clothes, which isn't the best situation. The book also mentions using baking soda if you hand wash dishes is it will make your hands softer. There are several ways to use baking soda when crafting. When making spaghetti sauce from scratch, use a quarter to a half teaspoon of baking soda to calm the acid. I've been doing this for years. I also sprinkle baking soda in my dishwasher and then run the dishwasher full cycle without dishes. It'll clean the washer and drainage pipes; it may help clean the dishwasher filter that will get clogged with grease. I also plan to buy the regular Arm & Hammer book of suggested uses. desertcart does carry this book. Review: Great value for the money and good quality material . - Good information .

Baking soda has many uses
I knew there were many uses for baking soda. As I am reading through this book I am surprised at all the uses. Today I added baking soda to my laundry and my laundry came out of the washer without that smell that I can't identify but is not pleasing to my nose. I live in a senior community apartment building. Another must-have book!
If you don't have this incredibly helpful book--maybe two or three around the house and workshop--someone should thump you upside the head. Baking soda is natural, inexpensive, and so easy to use. "Baking Soda: Over 500 Fabulous, Fun, and Frugal Uses You've Probably Never Thought Of" will tell you how. You know about baking soda in the refrigerator to absorb odors and down the drain with vinegar followed by a hot water rinse to keep drains flowing freely. How about sprinkling some in your suitcases when you next store them to eliminate that musty odor that grows in the dark of your absence. Or sprinkle it on your closet floor the day before you vacuum. Soak dirty mops and rags in a solution of baking soda and water after you finish mopping and make that final rinse. Rinse and let dry. Make the dirtiest windows sparkle by washing them with a wet sponge sprinkled with baking soda. Rinse with a clean sponge and dry. Leave 1 cup ammonia in a cold, closed oven overnight. In the morning remove the ammonia, sprinkle the oven with baking soda and wipe down with damp paper towels. Most of the residue will come off. Give chocolate cake a darker texture by adding 1 teaspoon baking soda with the other dry ingredients. Remove tape residue from windows and woodwork by using a baking soda paste. Keep a small box or shaker box of baking soda in your car to sprinkle on your hands after you pump gas. Wipe them clean with a damp paper towel found right there at the pump. No more smelly gas on your hands! There, I've listed ten fabulous, fun, and frugal uses of baking soda. The book will give you 495 more. Oh, do you know that virtually all of the baking soda in America comes from Green River, Wyoming, from the mined mineral, trona? It is also manufactured in one natural factory--your body! It keeps our saliva from dissolving our teeth and neutralizes stomach acids. It also carries carbon dioxide from body tissues to the lungs where it is exhaled. An amazing thing is baking soda.

Old Fashioned Cleaning
Useful little book to keep handy, although it is slightly dated. Also, it is American but this does not cause any major problems just need to convert into relevent measurements for your country. The index is the best place to look for specific information but is interesting to just browes through and find new ways to use baking soda.

Great and useful book
This book is great! It has all kinds of uses for baking soda, and the ones I've tried really work! It's a fun book just for reading, but it's really worth it if you want to find ways to clean without chemicals or freshen a room, refrigerator, etc. without adding another smell. My mother-in-law had a cat locked in her house while they were on vacation, and the clean-up was immense. I suggested putting baking soda around to help with the stench and she said it really worked. The book also gives a short history of baking soda which is interesting.

Okay
The book is nice to get a few ideas for baking soda, but you can find most of these on the internet. Wasn't to impressed with this book, if the internet isn't your thing, then the book would be good for you, but ones who surf the web save your money.

Safe Housecleaning
This book is a wonderful resource for anyone that wants to 'green' up their housecleaning, and it also gives tons of ideas on uses for baking soda. I have been trying to eliminate harmful chemicals from my household as much as possible now that I have a little one on the way. This book along with Vinegar: Over 400 Various, Versatile, and Very Good Uses You've Probably Never Thought Of by the same auther, and Green Housekeeping by Ellen Sandbeck provide a well rounded reference for using natural products instead of chemicals for just about any job around the house from cleaning appliances, sinks, tubs and toilets, to cleaning jewelry and composting. Even if you only take a handful of the ideas from these books they are worth the investment. This book is set up so that you can easily look up a job you want to accomplish in the index and go right to the appropriate page.
