Analog to Digital Audio Converter, Hdiwousp RCA R/L or 3.5mm Jack AUX to Digital Coaxial Toslink Optical SPDIF Audio Adapter for PS4 Xbox HDTV DVD Headphone (Aluminum)

I bought this to adapt my record players L/R RCA output channels into TOSLINK (S/PDIF) to play on my soundbar. Setup is super easy just plug in your input/output cables as well as the included power brick (micro usb). This is one of the few products that goes Analog-to-Digital and it seems to work great. The body is made of aluminum which was a nice surprise, and the internals are all solid state so it produces no noise. For the price its a great option and offers the right connections for what I need. I would have liked to see USB-C instead and the power LED is annoying but can be covered by some black tape.

UPDATE: After experiencing some unsatisfactory results with my W11 upgrade, I decided to roll back to 10. The volume is back to 2 bars just like it was with 8.1, so I added a 5th star to this review. After "upgrading" to newer hardware, I was missing my Dolby surround sound card that fed my Logitech Z-5500 for the last 20 years or so. The newer PC I migrated to only has a 3.5mm external jack, so there's no way I could plug directly into the Logitech. This adapter seems to work just fine, and since I no longer use my PC as a HTPC, I won't miss the surround setup at all. I do believe that there's some loss of volume though in the transition from analog to digital, as previously 2 bars on the Logitech display was plenty loud enough. With this adapter, I have to have it set a 4 to get the equivalent volume, even with Windows set at it's max.

First one star review. I have bought two of these and the toslink optical audio has broke on both of them. Each of them both have an operational coaxial digital port still, so not completely useless. However, I want optical, not coaxial. I’ve settled on keeping one and returning the other. I plan to just use the coaxial that works on one. But, I now need to buy a longer coaxial, as I had an optical cable the size I needed, but not a coaxial. In inspection, the optical part seems to be very poorly connected to the board. I might try soldering, but I don’t want two not working boards and I plan to return the other. I would steer clear of this one.

Does work well

This is a great device for anyone who needs to connect equipment that only has a 3.5mm audio output. I bought it to connect my projector, which doesn’t have an optical audio port, and it worked perfectly for that purpose. One tip to keep in mind, this might be obvious to some people, but it wasn’t to me: use a short 3.5mm cable and a long Toslink cable, not the other way around. At first, I tried using a long 3.5mm cable and a short Toslink cable to connect to my soundbar, and the audio was very distorted and almost unusable. I actually thought the device was defective. Then I reversed the setup, using a short 3.5mm cable and a longer Toslink cable to the soundbar, and the sound quality improved dramatically. Compared to running a 3.5mm cable straight from the projector to the soundbar, this converter produces much clearer, cleaner audio and eliminates a lot of the buzzing noise you sometimes get when no sound is playing. If you have a projector like the Epson Home Cinema 2150, which only has a 3.5mm audio output, and you want to enjoy digital audio without annoying background noise, I highly recommend this device. It’s definitely worth the price.

It works but they don't include the analog audio cables. What a joke.

I have purchased it for my own office. I have a Sonos playbar, which has only one Optical cable input, & the bad luch was with laptop there was no optical input. I serached & decide to but this Analog to Digital Audio Converter. First plug in the power, attach both optical, & use the AUX cable for the laptop. Now working each & everything with one convertor. Plus I had a old TV remove with the help of mobile app I setup same time. working best. Highly recommend if you have any high system. Thank you

Perfect solution to getting my older receiver connected to my Sony soundbar eliminating large speakers from our living room. Sound quality seems good for our purposes. I would highly recommend this unit.

Sampling rate of 48kHz As per the product page description, The converter is able to sample the signal up to 96kHz, That is not true. As per Daniel Lee's and my experience, It only samples up to 48kHz. It even says so in the included user manual, so please be aware of this. I verified the sampling rate with my Yamaha receiver which automatically chooses the highest rate possible from the connected device. I had previously tried different units that could do 48khzh but also higher so they didnt work for me. THANK YOU DANIEL LEE FOR SHARING THIS INFO AS I FINALLY HAVE THE FUNCTIONALITY I NEED.
