This door stopper may not work on smooth surfaces, but I think it's still a ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ product. Hear me out. I purchased and tested this product before coming to the realization that it's best used on carpeted surfaces. So imagine my disappointment when I tested it out on every door in my non-carpeted apartment and discovered it didn't work at all. Well, IF YOU'RE IN THE SAME BOAT AS ME AND DON'T HAVE CARPETED FLOORS IN YOUR HOME, ALL HOPE IS NOT LOST! After reading some the most critical reviews, I came up with an effective solution. THE SOLUTION: a non-slip doormat with latex backing I typically use whenever it's rainy or snowy. I discovered this door stopper works PERFECTLY when used with this doormat. When I tried opening my door the door didn't budge at all, even when I pulled on it with a little extra force. The stopper even passed my kick test. If you don't already have a non-slip doormat, I highly recommend getting one. It doesn't even have to be thick. Mine is super thin at just 0.6 inches thick. Actually, before purchasing a new doormat check to see if you already have something comparable around your home, such as unused scraps from a roll of non-slip material (e.g. foam mesh or vinyl-like kitchen shelf/drawer liner or rug gripper). You could use a strong adhesive to secure a rough cut piece to the bottom of the circular part of the stopper. No worries if you don't have a strong enough adhesive on hand, though. To circumvent possible slippage simply use a larger cut of the material, and place it on the floor before securing the stopper in place. Either method should be effective whether or not the floor is carpeted. You may need to fold or layer the material for a stronger, more secure grip, though. Happen to have a non-slip yoga/exercise mat or anti-fatigue kitchen, bathroom or utility mat? Those could possibly work, as well. They may actually be better alternatives since they're generally a little thicker and more durable than the shelf/drawer liners and rug grippers. Whatever option you decide on, just make sure it is completely removeable and won't permanently adhere to or damage your floor (unless potential damage isn't a major concern to you). These alternatives are especially ideal if you intend to use the door stopper while away from home and are unsure what type of flooring there is wherever you'll be staying. You could probably even use a non-slip placemat, slipper or a grippy sock. In a pinch, I'd imagine you could secure the door stopper with just about anything, such as a folded piece of thick cardboard or cloth, as long as you tighten the wing nut as much as possible ensuring the stopper will remain securely fixed in place while in use and whatever material wedged under it can't be dislodged. Would it be great if this device worked on any surface? For sure, but it works amazingly well when used on carpet or with a comparable substitute. Would it be even better if it cost less? Of course, but given its effectiveness when used on carpet and with grippy/slip-resistant items I definitely believe it's worth the money. By and large this device outperforms the two other portable security devices I purchased. You'll notice I was also using one of them in the videos I've shared. I wouldn't say the other devices are completely ineffective. They just can't hold a candle to this door stopper imo. I'm in the process of packing up to move, but I'll leave more detailed reviews for each of the other security devices on their respective product pages when I have a little more downtime. TL:DR - This door stopper is most effective when used on carpeted floors. However, if your floors aren't carpeted you can still make it work. You just gotta improvise and do a little "MacGyvering". Below is a non-exhaustive list of removable and transportable slip-resistant alternatives that will suffice: • doormats; • yoga/exercise mats; • anti-fatigue kitchen/bathroom/utility mats; • placemats • foam mesh or vinyl shelf/drawer liners or rug grippers; • slippers/slipper socks • a folded piece of thick cardboard or cloth A good rule of thumb to keep in mind when determining what measure of material to use when anchoring the stopper in place is that the mass of the material used should be indirectly or inversely proportional to the strength of the material's grip or slip-resistance. In other words, the more grip or slip-resistance it has, the less of it you'll probably need to use. Conversely, if it has less grip or slip-resistance, you'll likely have to use more of it. HTH ☺️

Amazing door stopper. Made of steel. Strong, sturdy, able to effectively prevent anyone from opening a door. This small device is capable of preventing a forced entry. Some people here on Amazon stated it works great on carpet floors. I personally tested it on a tile floor and works great. I highly recommend this product. Great for the price. Well made. Thank you.

This little door stop is a small peace of mind that installs easily and works. I initially purchased it to keep my apparent Houdini dog from escaping my locked door. But as it turns out it is also wonderful when away traveling and not able to access my US phone # should the security company should call with a concern or door breached. One word of advice. Once in place the door cannot be opened. You must have another way to exit the home or business.

Great product. Very well made. Easy to use. No need to assemble. I am a travel nurse and I carry this with me wherever I go. It gives me a sense of security as a solo female traveler. Also does not weight a lot, you can put this in your bag/carry on and you won’t feel like it’s taking a lot of space.

Got this for my daughter who travels for work. She love it but left the first one at a hotel. I got another one for her.
