It says to put the finger guard into the main box but I couldn’t get it to fit. So, it sits on top which is fine. I found the whole thing very sturdy and the blade for slicing was very sharp. Or can be purchased separately?** A: Re the rubber mat- no it isn’t. I don’t know what a drainer is! I would imagine that you can buy the items separately. **Q: Does this slice tomatoes** A: I wouldn't try because to use the mandolin you press down slightly & push against the blade & this will squash a tomato. Mandolines very good and very sharp as they should be. Just need to be careful when using.
