How does the wallet stay closed? Is it a magnet or just expected to remain closed without any assistance from a button or Velcro or whatever.

This card holder haven't magnet. If you put the right amount of cards, it will stay closed without any assistance.

the steel part doesnt open, only you can slide the cards inside it and by pushing the small black piece below it the cards slides out, and from behind you flip it and you'll find two pockets
