I have a great plumber but I can't call and spend $ on ...
I have a great plumber but I can't call and spend $ on everything that goes wrong in my old house. So when I can, I try to jump in and fix a problem. Such a case was when my Gerber air flush toilet (with a Sloan Flushmate 503 in the tank) suddenly stopped flushing and would not stop running unless I turned off the water supply. With a quick online search and a look in the tank, I figured out that the actuator stem had snapped - not salvageable and not anything you can rig up. It was a life saver to have this actuator replacement kit available from the manufacturer for order on Amazon with express delivery. (Surprisingly, my local big box hardware stores only offer this online. If I'm going that route, I'll use Amazon.) The part came on time and contained all replacement parts that might wear out - the actuator, an inlet filter, and duck bill valve. In short order, thanks to the clear instructions and easy to install pieces, I had everything replaced and my toilet was working perfectly again. I'm going to order another kit to have on hand. I strongly recommend that anyone with a Sloan Flushmate do the same - it's a small investment and easy to store kit.

Works like a charm
I accidentally bough a knock off Sloan Flushmate which never really worked and died within a week. This item threaded in easily, and the whole installation was a breeze. I did the Sloan Flushmate recall at the same time. (It adds a pressure regulator to keep the tank from exploding. Something that's probably worth doing.)This new cartridge flushes with the lightest of touches. It is a breeze to flush now.I did buy the plastic Sloan Flushmate install tool. It is so worth the $10 or so, even if it is a one time use. The tool fits in a corner of the toilet tank, which seems to be a great place to store it for whenever this cartridge needs replacing. The original cartridge lasted over fifteen years, so I am sure that I won't find the tool in fifteen years, if I don't hide it in the tank.

Installation
Product was great! solved problem. The only issue is in installation. I had to watch YouTube videos to understand how to truly install this product as it is not straight forward. I would recommend keeping/ordering the specialty wrenches with this product and be careful working with it or the threads/plastic fins will break if you put too much pressure in tightening it. You have to install it slowly; a 1/2 turn at a time; and you have to reintroduce water to the flushmate system as you are tightening down on the value to install it. It took me about 20 different tries to get the timing and the installation correct between installing the value--adding water---and when the valve is sitting correctly with a full tank of water. However, once you have experience installing these valves it will be easier. Just take your time, follow the instruction; and watch you tube videos before you attempt to replace it. If you just take out and replace the value its not going to work.

Relatively Easy to Install
Toilet kept running and some googling told me I should replace this cartridge. Was able to install after watching a YouTube video but note that it does take some time to make sure the installation depth is correct!

Easy to Install Flushmate Flush Valve replacement
We have 3 bathrooms in our house that use the Flushmate Flush Valve. The last time we ended up replacing one, we called the plumber and ended up with $250 bill that included labor and the part. So this time when one started to go out, I started researching and watching you tube videos online. At first, it was a little intimidating, but for the huge savings, I was willing to try. We ordered the part, and it came well packaged with the instructions clear on the packaging. For additional information, I would play/pause an instructional video we found online from the company. Suprisingly, It ended up being very easy to replace and probably took about 20-30 minutes (but that was with us (my husband and I) watching the video as we were doing the installation). We have had the new part in for almost 2 months and have had no issues with the product. I am so glad that we tried it and saved tons of money.

Cartridge solved leaking issue, duckbill included not usable on older units!
Our flushmate toilet from the '90's was leaking a lot of water around the cartridge, so I replaced with this part and no more leaking! It also came with other small parts, and the "duckbill" part doesn't fit my older unit. But to find this out I had to take that part off, and then IT started leaking. Like crazy. The manufacturer told me to purchase a new upper supply, but it is 1/2" higher than the one I have, so the top of the toilet tank wouldn't sit right. So...I took a 1/4" o ring and put it in to help the seal, and so far it is working. No more leaks. I would buy the new part if it fit, but it won't and the manufacturer suggests an entire new unit which is a not an option! But the cartridge was easy to install and worked like a charm.

Should solve almost any issue
We own a Mansfield toilet with a series 503 Flushmate, that all of a sudden kept running and making a continuous farting sound (ironically enough).Bottom-line: this kit should solve almost any problem you are having with your Flushmate. (unless the pressure vessel itself is cracked, which should be rare).Recommendations:-View the excellent YouTube videos before you start.-Instead of buying the dedicated “removal wrench” I used the handle of a standard set of ChannelLocks... this works fine, as shown in the videos.-The kit also includes a new duck-bill and inlet filter mesh...although, the main value is the most likely bad-actor in the system. I went ahead and used all the parts included in the kit... why not..Lastly, my entire top tank (including the Flushmate assembly) is only about 4 years old when this part needed to be replaced. This service life is a little disappointing. Also since this part is not available off-the-shelf at the typical hardware store, it almost assures a significant downtime.
