Easy to setup, picks up well
We used a Bissell pet specific model of vacuum for the longest time until it died recently so we needed a new one. This one was our selection and it has been working rather well. It's powerful, easy to empty, and it has a lot of versatility in terms of its function given you can detach it from the body part. Setup was easy as you get all the main pieces and you just need to attach them together following the guide. It's also nice in the sense you see how that detachment piece functions so you're doing less guesswork when you want to utilize it. The detachment part is my favorite element as you can carry it up stairs more easily without a giant vacuum head piece banging around. In general it's a good vacuum that is a reasonable size, powerful suction, and easy to clean. I would recommend if you're in the market for a nice vacuum.

Top quality!
Just got my new Bissell 2998 yesterday and it’s already been used four times. It is light enough to lift from the box and assemble without instructions but I referred to them anyway. I like the way it all connects with a twist & lock or just a click without needing to refer to highly technical schematics. This is my third new vacuum in six years. Both prior vacuums, a Shark Liftaway and Bissell ClearView, still operate very well but my back and shoulders couldn’t take it any more. The ClearView is significantly more difficult for me to push, and the Shark is awkward. The new 2998 has fantastic suction and for some reason, I suspect it’s the closed HEPA filtration unit, it’s not pulling at my w-2-w carpet up the way the Shark did. Yet it’s powerfully extracting the finest dust particles! I’m just blown away by the power, quality, versatility, and most of all ease of cleaning. It came with an attachment for high dusting or hard to reach corners and the other for upholstery. I wish I had a before picture to share of my ottoman but I literally brought the original color back after two passes using the upholstery attachment. I also like that I can use the rollers or not and adjust for bare floors without having to bend or reach for the switch. The unit is more compact than most vacuums although it’s certainly weighty enough and it’s not made with cheap plastic. It’s actually a pretty appliance if you can believe it. I don’t know after so many months of searching, googling, using AI resources and finally the one embedded in the Amazon app - which I love! - I’m just so thrilled to finally have something to use that doesn’t make me feel my age. My back didn’t hurt once! I nearly selected a Eureka model for about $90 less, and for $200 more I could have the Shark Stratos that was in my cart for four days before finally finding this one. I made the right choice. Highly recommended!

Bissell 2998
I like this vacuum. Pros: * It worked straight out of the box (i saw others had issues). * It was easy to put together. * I do like that this vacuum has long or short carpet switch. * I can see when it needs to be dumped and it is really easy to dump, too. * A little heavy but I have noticed lighter vacuums dont work very well so I dont mind. * You can get flexibility with the vacuum head (whatever you call it) but it also takes some getting used to. I was able to get it in corners and a little ways under my low couch. * When vacuuming the living room where everyone is (including my pittie), it seemed to be picking up the carpet as I went, lol. So that makes me believe it did a pretty good job. * The lights are very bright. I did not think I needed LED lights on a vacuum but here I am liking them! They help to see a lot better. Cons: * I didnt noticed much with the handheld attachment for dog hair. * Hair does get wrapped up around the roller even though it says it doesnt (when it actually picks it up). Im not sure how this would be avoidable and have never seen a vacuum that did not have hair wrap around it. My hair is also VERY long. * I did notice it doesnt pick up everything. We tested it on my daughter's NASTY floor that had earrings, fake nails, eyelashes, nose rings, etc everywhere (because if a vacuum could get that floor to look better, its a winner), and there was a clump of hair it would just not pick up. It wasn't that big either. It just flattened it to the carpet every time it rolled over it. * My allergies did start messing with me during and after vacuuming. Which I was hoping wouldnt be the case especially with the HEPA filter. I do wish there was somewhere I could put the attachments on the vacuum. Especially at that price. It picks up wayyy better than the Shark vacuum that looks very close to this model, but purple. The Shark smells awful and makes a horrible noise after only having it about 6 months. Hence, why I bought this vacuum. I can't really speak to build quality yet, but so far so good. I hope this vacuum lasts years to come. Do I think it is worth the almost $300 I paid for it, not really but i also havent figured everything out on it yet, either. Do I like it though, yes. I also appreciate that this company helps animals in shelters. Good causes will make me a sucker to choose your product over someone else's.

Absolutely Great!
I had a Bissell for about 5 years that stopped working. I guess maybe it was a clogged brush roller or broken belt. I did a ton of research on a new vacuum cleaner. As usual, there are always mixed reviews. I decided on this one because of the pet hair issue. We have 3 cats and the amount of hair that needs to be vacuumed is ridiculous. We recently had the carpet removed from the stairs, which was always difficult to clean. Today was the first use of this vacuum cleaner, and let me tell you, it's a great cleaner! Easy to assemble, much lighter than the previous one, suction is phenomenal, and so easy to use. I forgot it was a swivel type, and although I wasn't looking for that feature, it really is helpful. I like the power switch being close to the top, and the ability to turn off the roller is great for cleaning area rugs that can get sucked up. It even sucked up a cat toy by accident and was very easy to remove. I have a bad back, but this is very easy to use without any pain. The light definitely helps a lot too. I can't believe how much of a difference it made after just one use! The canister was full after just doing 2 rooms! Cleaning the machine is a breeze. Everything swirls around the center of the canister, and just falls out into the trash bag without having to pull it out like my last one. The cord rewinder would have been a nice feature, but that's about the only thing missing on this. Oh and the pet hair attachment is way more powerful than the previous one. Easy to clean that, too. Plus the HEPA filter is a definite necessity. All in all, I highly recommend this vacuum cleaner for everyone! Good job, Bissell!

Quality vacuum at a reasonable price
Overall, another great product from Bissell. First, cons since it is a very short list: the vacuum does not lay completely flat to go under tables as other full-sized models/brands, like my Dyson. Also, this is not so much a con as it is I'm not used to the pivot. I've never had a vacuum with this function. It does not effect the functionality of the vacuum, just different. Weightwise, not too bad. Not the heaviest out there but is not the lightest so may be an issue for those with stairs that have strength issues. Pros: A lot. I do not know why so many models, including my Dyson, got rid of the headlamps. Love that this has them; very bright. Works great on carpet and hard floors. Canister holds quite a bit before having to be emptied, which is very simple. Washable filter is very nice instead of a one time use. Single pass is more than sufficient to vacuum up whatever is on the floor. The most surprising is the attachment labeled as the "Pet Turbo Eraser"; short of any other words, it is badass. We have 3 dogs, two of which are major shedders - a German Shepherd and a Red Merle Border Collie. Have had my Dyson for years and worked great, but it has slowed down greatly and the attachments are standard. This attachment will eat a pair of socks, with the feet still in them. Fantastic for getting pet hair out of the kickplate of the stairs. Bissell definitely caters to pet owners. Have had their home steam cleaner for close to 15 years and still works like new with very regular usage. 3 dogs carry a lot dirt but we love 'em! We will see if this holds up as long as the steam cleaner does. Bought this to replace my Dyson and paid a third of the price. Even if this only last 5-7 years, I think that is a very sound investment considering the constant heavy usage.

Great vacuum
I had my "cheapest we could find" vacuum which still works after 7 years but it's time to upgrade as I noticed it doesn't clean the carpet so good. For comparison, I vacuumed a little bit with both vacuums and there's an obvious difference in how much it pickes up. So what I LOVED MOST about this vacuum is that the suction power is great, cleaning path is 13 inches, which is wide. I love that it's swivel, let's you manuver so comfortable around things. Cord length is longer than I had so for me it's an improvement,I no longer have to switch the outlets. Noise level is about the same for my both vacuums so I didn't notice big difference, but it's a vacuum, I don't expect silent mode)) You can turn the brush off so it doesn't rotate on the floor, which is cool. You can adjust suction for "plush carpet " or "low carpet". Also, Tangle free brush...well, let's be honest it's not completely free of hair but hell yes, there's tremendous difference how it was on my old vacuum...sometimes I had to clean the hair 2-3 times just to clean one room cuz there's 3 girls with long hair in the house. So don't expect it totally free of hair but it's pretty close to it and it's easy to clean. I love the lights...very helpful when small particles jumping around the brush so I know I need to give ot another pass. Normally, I wouldn't see it cuz I have bad eyes plus astigmatism so in bad lighting conditions I don't see good. Anti allergen filtration system is also important to my family as we are all allergic to dust. My air purifier usually indicates raise in air contamination when I vacuum...this time NOTHING, so I feel like the system does the job well. What I didn't like that it's pretty heavy...it's subjective but I checked the competitors, they all about the same weight. But it's not really complicating things for my back, even though my lover back is getting hurt often, the wheels move very smooth so the vaccum moves easy. I think it's my main complaint, I wish it was lighter. It has a very cool feature, the cord clip. But while it's super helpful you can see on my photo, just one day of use and it has a lot of marks, which over time will damage the cord...(smth to improve definitely). But overall it's an amazing vacuum, made my carpets clean and fluffy again.

I have NO idea what''s up with this model.
SORRY THIS IS SO LONG- EDITED WITH UPDATE ON JULY 6, 2023: After waiting for them to get back to me by 6/28/2023 (the date they gave me) I ended up calling them again on 6/29/2023 and for some reason I had to go through the issues all over again with a new customer service agent. They again went through ALL the same steps as before; take it to a service place, send it back and they would send me a new one, etc. At this point I told them I would like another model sent as I didn't have any confidence in this model. They agreed to send me another new model that was comparable; they had me look at it on the website while we were on the phone. I told them to send me a return label and I would send this one back and they could send me the new model. They then told me to "dispose of the machine". ??? Didn't they just tell me to send it back a minute ago? this makes me pretty sure they tried to fix the other one I sent back and then resent it to me. So, I got the "NEW" vacuum last Saturday (7/1/2023 - pretty fast since they didn't even call me back like they said they would..) and they sent me a USED machine. It had fingerprints all over it and it was dusty on the bottom part and the hose that came with it was as well. I was disappointment but I was just praying it worked. And of course, the back wheels locked up and the left one didn't want to move at all. At this point I almost wanted to cry, but I just didn't have the energy to call them yet again. I got the WD40 and tried to get the wheel to work. It's not perfect but at least it turns. It was completely locked up before. Hopefully this will work out, but this machine also has a 5 year warranty and I don't even want to jinx things by putting that out in the universe, but I will keep calling them until I get a working machine if I have to. They really won't want to keep hearing from me. Pray for me please. I'm so sick and tired of all this... I bought this in December 2022. Bissell is my go-to brand for vacuums as I've NEVER had issues with them. They've lasted YEARS until someone would physically break a part and we had to replace it. After a couple of months, the wire had frayed and after contacting Bissell they told me they would replace the machine and to throw out the old machine as it's a fire hazard (I did send them pictures as proof). Great. Got the new machine and it's fine. FOR ANOTHER COUPLE OF MONTHS? The machine just stops turning on. The on/off button wasn't clicking and it just was dead. They sent me a return label and I sent the unit back. Keep in mind I had thrown the box out so I had to create a new box in order to send it back. They then sent me "a replacement machine after checking" the one I had sent back. They sent me the second replacement in April. Third times a charm right?? Last Friday (June 23, 2023) the machine died AGAIN. The SAME button issue as before. Now, I don't know if they just tried to fix the button and sent it back or if it's actually a new replacement. I called them and they told me they would have to "look into the problem as it's the third time" I've had "issues with this model". I am now waiting for them to get back to me, but it could take them until Wednesday so I had to go and buy another vacuum in the meantime because my parents are extremely immune compromised so the hepa filter and other features seemed perfect for our situation. I will see what they can do for me, but I cannot recommend this model at all.

Really good, but glaring, awful design defects allowing pet hair to accumulate at axles
We had a prior Bissell PowerGlide Pet (2215) that worked okay, but it had lots of issues and ultimately we only got about 3.5 years out of it. It still runs but has horrible noises and doesn't work very well. We will have to see if this one lasts longer, but overall it's improved in a lot of ways. It absolutely picks up more hair than the old one, although I'd argue the old one is probably not fully functional at this point. However, we have a particular rug that used to require multiple passes in multiple directions to get all the dog hair, and this one grabs it all in one, maybe two passes. The lift off mechanism and the wand is really nice, it was so hard to do stairs with the other one, here I can use the lift off and the pet eraser attachment very easily. The wand makes it easy to get balls of dog hair in the corner or under shelves. The larger brush head on the main vacuum is definitely an improvement, as even the hair from our long-haired dog can't wrap all the way around it, so it's pretty easy to pull the hair out. No matter what the ads say, it doesn't "self clean", but her hair completely neutered the old vacuum and frequently required disassembly to clean. This is MUCH easier. (EDIT: see update at the bottom) The dustbin is pretty much the same, pretty tiny, needing emptying very often for our two dogs. However it seems like the hair falls out naturally much more often without having to reach up in and tug stuck hairballs out. The cord is shorter and that's frustrating. My old schema of what plugs i used for what areas is completely upended. I unplug and replug this one a lot more often than the old one. However, it is lighter. One of my concerns is the construction of the PetEraser being identical to the one we had. There is of course an axle around which the brush/impeller spins. On our last one, dog hair gets wrapped around the axle right where it meets the plastic, and eventually it works its way in and the entire thing has so much friction it doesn't spin anymore. Edit: 12/7/23: The main roller still suffers from a glaring design defect. The axle is fixed within the roller, and is not made for disassembly. The problem is that hair builds up around the axle at one end, and eventually causes significant friction which eventually causes the roller to quit functioning. This is extra bad because the motor doesn't know better and keeps trying, so the whole thing gets absurdly hot until you notice and resign yourself to 45 minutes of dealing with it. It is possible to pull the hair out, but I end up having to use needle nose pliers, a pick and a exacto knife. If it's not possible to keep the pet hair away from the axle, Bissell really needs to make the axle disassemble so you can easily remove the hair from spinning bits. Knocking off 2 stars for a pet vacuum that cannot handle pet hair without seizing up. Next time I clean this out I'll take pictures. I don't mind a little maintenance but I don't expect a 2 month old vacuum to completely seize up from pet hair gumming the works. Man I wish they could fix this, because it's great in all other aspects.

Best Vacuum!!!
I'm not someone who usually likes to write about anything and therfore writing a review is not my top list of priorities However I felt I had to take a few minutes to share my experience with the Bissell 2998 Vacuum I absolutely love this vacuum. I'm a long time loyal fan and customer of Bissell This new vacuum that I recently purchased with Amazon is amazing. First a huge thank you to Amazon for making the purchase affordable for customers with their payment plan This vacuum has above all superior suction power. It is not as noisy as my previous vacuums. It maneuvers quite well. Numerous options for the maneuvering. It's pretty much a lightweight vacuum. What I want to point out is that there's LED Lights built in the vacuum at the front I have a degenerative eye condition and I have to say this feature is very important for me and I am very happy with Bissell for having this feature I am totally satisfied with my purchase

American model with an American plug. Why don't you say that?
This is a great machine, but what Amazon does not tell you is that this is an American model and it comes with an American plug. It is not meant to work in Germany.
