Pentel Mechanical Pencil Twist Erase III 0.7 mm, Black Barrels, Pack of 3

This is my favorite pencil for note taking, drawing, and sheet music writing. The eraser is excellent. No smudges. The mechanism works reliably. The lead is sharp but durable. I give them as gifts to people who appreciate good mechanical pencils.

I really like the feel of this pencil as well as the eraser (yes I make a lot of mistakes). I would purchase this pencil again.

These are great mechanical pencils. They're a little pricey, but well worth it. I like the way you can adjust the eraser height and the pencils are easy to refill. I also like the comfortable grip, it is very functional . I think these pencils are the best I've ever used.

I have been using this particular Pentel Mechanical pencil for years. They are the best!!

Update, 05/11/26: Even with the lead fully retracted, the metallic tip of this mechanical pencil is so sharp that it pokes holes through the bottom of my shirt pockets. Down from 5 to 4 stars because of this. Comfortable to hold, lightweight but durable, and nice looking. They write nice and smooth, and the point is always sharp. I like the easy feed eraser that rises and retracts with a simple twist of the pencil’s barrel. I also appreciate that the clip is located close to the top of the pencil, so the pencil sits lower in a shirt pocket, leaving less of it exposed. Overall, this is a nice mechanical pencil for the price.

This Pentel pencil is the best mechanical pencil that I have used in years. It writes dark,smoothly and is easy to use. The eraser fully erases the pencil marks. There is a comfortable rubber grip. Don't buy cheaper ones. These are really a good value.
