Great hard drive!

I just put 14 of these into two RAID arrays on a NAS server. They are quiet, they are inexpensive for the capacity, and they don't draw a lot of power, BUT they are SMR drives (Shingled Magnetic Write) and their write speed is like watching paint dry. Even in a disk array where writes are spread across multiple drives. I was expecting them to be not blazing fast, but I wasn't expecting write performance THIS slow. In a RAID application with frequent writes of relatively small disk stripes, they are effectively unusable.Unfortunately this isn't something you have a lot of choice about, because you cannot buy a 2.5" drive in the 2-6TB range that is *NOT* SMR. They don't exist. I have since discovered that ALL 2TB or larger 2.5" drives are SMR. Hopefully by the time I need to replace these, 4TB SSDs will be price-competitive — assuming I don't have to rteturn them.. The honest truth is, the days of spinning rust are numbered.There needs to be a class-action suit against the entire storage industry over shingled magnetic recording. Really, YOU WON'T BELIEVE how slow its write speed is.

I bought this to upgrade my default 500 GB storage of my PS4 Slim. I received this product, sized this up if this would fit my PS4 Slim, unfortunately it won't fit in the PS4 hdd drive bay. I found out that aside from the HDD or SSD size, you should get a thickness lower than 15mm to have no install issue. I cannot attest to the capability of this product since I was not able to install it in my PS4 Slim so I am returning.

I bought two of them. They work great; don't seem all that slow to me but I'm no expert. They are big drives, slightly thinner than a regular 3.5 hd. I placed them on a PCI card to expand storage on a PC (works on Mac Pro too). Works great that way. I would not recommend them to be used in a laptop or other devices with small space.

Needed a bit more storage than the 1TB drive included with my UniFi UCK-G2-PLUS, figured I would try this drive given the included drive was a Toshiba. Seems to work fine. Will update the review if something changes.UPDATE 2022-APR-02 After a few weeks, the Cloud Key has crashed and not come back up. I am able to restore it, but if an update happens and a bounce is needed, it boots to a flashing white light. Replaced it with a 5TB drive from another brand and don't have any issues with bouncing the device. The drive seems to work in PC or Mac just fine, but I have no need for a magnetic 5900 rpm spinner these days.

Installed in my minicomputer video server. Had to use 1/4” spacers for cover to fit but it works great and doubles the capacity of the old 2TB drive.

TiVo Bolt+ hard drive failed. Easily replaced with this drive. Works great.
