Stop. Stop scrolling through the endless bags that Amazon has to offer because you've just found the bag you're looking for. This is the ultimate carry bag. It's perfect. Compact, holds WAY more than it looks like it can, lightweight and yet incredibly sturdy and durable. Straps are thick and strong - no one is snatching this bag from you. One "secret" zipper pocket - perfect for the smaller must-haves in your everyday needs or to hide away a few dollars. Outside zipper pocket is perfect for your phone. Inside the main part of the bag, it can easily hold a composition notebook along with wallet, keys, charger and extras, the foam/material divider separates the book from the other items and the bag zips up snugly over it so it won't sag or flip over. The pocket under the flap is a bottomless pit - seriously - you can put so many things in there and you STILL have room AND still retrieve the things you need without having to dig through it. Everything from floss to face cream to pepper spray to Band-Aids and everything else that you could possibly need. This is the best bag I've ever owned...and I've owned quite a few. I spent months browsing the Amazon pages of messenger and carry bags and found a lot that were nice-looking but didn't quite check every box that I was needing. I came across the Scruffy Dog and instantly liked it and even more so after reading all the other positive reviews and even MORE so after I received it and tried it out. This is my forever bag. I'm seriously considering purchasing another just to have when and if my current one ever wears out. It is so durable and quality that I know it's going to last years. Highly, highly, definitely, definitely recommend! I'm checking back to their site occasionally to see if they add to their line because these company is fantastic and makes quality bags for decent prices.

I bought this to help complete an adventurer's costume for a party. It looks great and fit the bill perfectly. It was one of the few leather-free satchels on Amazon too (it's polyester), which was a lot harder to find than you'd think. While there are listings from Chinese companies that claim to use faux leather for their bags, the reality is that many lie and use real leather regardless --- and in some cases, they use leather that comes from dogs and cats, which is even more horrifying. Scruffy Dog Trading Co., meanwhile, has an actual American/Australian address that you can see on their website, plus a YouTube channel with professionally created videos, so it feels like a more trustable/legit business. The bag itself is comfortable to wear, has a fair number of pockets and feels roomier than its size might make you think, and is solidly built. It's an overall high-quality build, and I think it'll last for many years to come. I would recommend it to anyone. Great bag.

So for the money, this is an excellent value. Honestly though, I wish it looked a bit more like the larger bag they make but in a smaller size. Often times, when I am on vacation or business trip, I might want to go out for a few hours. Maybe I want some sunglasses, headphones, charger, maybe some other supplies, and I don't want to stuff my jean pockets or beg my wife to carry them for me in her bag. For this purpose I chose this bag. It's for casual use, so I wasn't looking for something designed to go with a suit or business attire. Just a casual bag that isn't too heavy (it often lives in my suitcase), or too big. I was torn on what kind of design and material I was looking for, but the sort of vintage canvas idea seemed like a winner. I didn't want to look like I was carrying some kind of man purse as a fashion statement. Nor was I willing to give up all dignity and use a fanny pack. So this was a happy compromise. As to the bag, given the price, it is exceptionally well made. Nice attention to detail, it's not bad at all. My only real criticism, is it's probably over engineered. There are an unnecessary number of pockets, a little too much padding in some of them. This wastes space, and requires a lot more thought when looking for items. Now I daresay if you use this bag a lot, and have a highly organized OCD kind of mindset, maybe this is for you. For me, I'd say 2-3 fewer pockets would have been ideal. This was only an occasional bag for me, so I'm not going to learn where everything goes, as I might with my Tumi backpack I take on the plane and to business meetings. Bottom line, at this price point, this is excellent. I'd totally buy a version 2.0 if they ever update the design. I definitely got the vibe that this company cares about what they produce more than they care about mass production and maximizing sales. There are a lot of terrible poor quality items in this segment, and these guys really did rise above. I've mentioned my reasons for 4/5 stars, but I could easily see this being 5/5 for people with a slightly different criteria.

This is a perfect bag for women who simply want a comfortable crossbody bag with enough accessible pockets for necessary items. I've had it for a few weeks now and really like it. While browsing on Amazon for a canvas bag, I came upon the Scruffy Dog items. I love dogs, so I had to check them out! Thank you!

Have wide assortment of backpacks. Needed a smaller bag to carry personal effects don’t want falling out of pockets for stores that ban backpacks. Adult-owned. Arrives in a nice opaque bag with slider-closure. Material quality is very good to the touch (broken in feel) & stitching is sturdy, no loose threads, clean. Pockets inside are actually well thought out by someone whom actually uses these - some padded, others not. Major one & 1 small inner (I put wallet or phone in that) pocket has zipper closure, zippers are sturdy & play is clean/free. No water bottle compartment/holder. Strap is standard, just like will find on any messenger bag not padded like the larger version. Dye has stonewashed, not distressed, look. Capacity: I carry a Paperwhite, Switch OLED in hard case, smartphone, keys, dog defecation bags, a regular sized sandwich, pens, ear pods & have a little more space left for very small incidentals. If I ditch the Switch I can haul water instead (if out Pokémon hunting). IPad mini (or equivalent size) would fit but full-size tablets require force to wedge in or will peek out (laptops & gaming consoles are definite no). Appearance is made by the square metal logo badge on the front closure flap (unlike bigger version which is a print). This is the bag’s biggest selling point AND its biggest weakness. This badge is attached via pins into an H bracket. This gives the badge a “free floating” appearance. This leaves edge & corners on all 4 sides open/free & not attached to anything. Because all 4 sides are not attached firmly: 1. Badge cracks into everything, gets caught. Can damage other items. 2. Metal flat badge gets caught & yanks. This separates the pins affixing the H bracket to badge. Then buy-bye badge & you’re left with a bag that looks exactly like those one can get for $10 at Ross/Marshalls’ (or less at Goodwill). I’ve had the bag for less than 2 months. Use it 1-2 times a week, most oft slung over car seat then direct to hanger on back of door. Top 2 pins of H bracket for badge are already detached & 3rd hanging on; all efforts to fix have failed. It looks like a gangplank constantly down: NOT aesthetically pleasing + can damage other things and risks ripping fabric flap when metal badge gets caught yet again. My suggestion? 1. Buy the bigger bag. Looks SO much better with print logo & distressed finish, strap is best padding I’ve ever owned & capacity isn’t much more than this one. 2. Manufacturer either drops H bracket & attaches badge FULLY to bag flap (not loosely) OR switches as many reviewers have stated to print logo exact same as larger bag (sized to fit this one’s flap to make a superior product equal to the larger version. As a consumer for the price I’m not pleased with the coolest thing coming off within 1.5 months of occasional gentle use - I’d’ve gone with a $10 bag had I known that (disabled person on very small fixed income). Go check out their larger messenger bag: SO cool! If only they made cool backpacks like it.

UPDATE TO REVIEW: 16th Sept 2024 Avoid this bag. The badge on the front has worked loose and is a hazard making the bag unusable. This has been a complete waste of money and I’m so disappointed with this bag. Three serious faults which occurred just outside of the returns period. Absolute junk. ORIGINAL REVIEW: I bought this bag because it was a little different; I ignored some of the bad reviews about the zip because I liked it. However, just after my return window closed the zip came off and the handle in now coming lose. Avoid this bag unless you are prepared to spend money getting it repaired.

It’s good and easy carry, mobile phone, keys and other small items are all in the bag now, my husband loves it!

This is my second scruffydog bag. I had the last one for ten years. I am sure this one will be equally as durable.
