Why are rice kernels included in the shredded green tea parts?

Wow this green tea is spot on the best state side tea I have found. I travel to Japan for business a lot and I was after a tea flavor that I normally drink while I am visiting Japan. I believe this will be a staple ingredient for my kitchen. Green tea has so many great health benefits I believe a cup a day might just keep the urgent doctor away.

I used to buy this kind of tea from our local Portland Japanese Garden. This tea is so good. Tastes toasty with yummy matcha. Mmmmm.

Tasty Genmaicha tea. I learnt that it only needed a bit less than a tea spoon on a cup of water so it doesn't have any bitter notes.

I personally did not enjoy this tea at all. There was a musky dirt road taste to it in my opinion.
