Awesome touchscreen smart lock for basic needs
I just bought this lock and installed it on the door between my garage and house. I was looking at more expensive locks, but this has all the sectional features in an attractive design and at an affordable price. I installed this on an old door in my 1930's house that didn't have an existing deadbolt so it took some extra time to drill the holes and chisel out the strike plate, but that would be the case for any new deadbolt I installed here. After that was done, the actual lock installation went quickly. I have to admit the door I installed it on is very ugly, as seen in the photos, but the lock is performing well. I'll list my pros and cons below:Pros:- High-quality materials and good construction. Doesn't feel cheap or weak.- Installation is easy and straightforward.- Autolock feature is great and the time is customizable- Allows for 50+ unique door codes- Can still be opened with the key if the batteries dieCons:- You have to wake up the touch screen with a tap before entering your code- I wish Amcrest linked to quick how-to videos that demonstrated how to program the lock.- Programming isn't as intuitive as other locks that connect to an app. You have to enter a sequence of codes to change functions. (However, you could argue that the lock is more secure because it's not wireless.)

Great lock. Could use Bluetooth or WiFi
Has been a little more than two months since I received my sample product but here is my review so far:Unboxing: product looks great. It's sleek and modern. One suggestion here is to have each of the parts in separate small boxes with numbers on them. You'd be surprised how much easier it makes it for a user when they can identify which screw or bolt goes with each step!First take: Quality: looks amazing. No flaws and excellent idea adding a protective cover over the keypad for shipping!Weight is about normal for a automated lock. I'd say it's a bit lighter than my Eufy lock in the garage but also not WiFi or bluetooth enabled so it's expected to be lighter.Installation:Used a phillips head screw driver for the entire installation. Super easy to install and get connected. The wire was a bit hard to get correctly inserted into the motherboard as the angle is a bit odd. It might be better to have a vertical plug as it would be easier than trying to maneuver the plug horizontally.Features: batteries went in and the coding programing was a bit tedious. If you mess up the programming it locks out. Initially this is sort of a pain. I eventually got it figured out by following the directions exactly. I may have gone over them too quickly the first round. The light up keypad is excellent for the dark and the green light and red light is also an excellent feature.Price: comparison to other products with similar features: looking at keypad locks it's about twice the price but when you add in the IP54 ratings it's on par with most locks.Overall take aways:I really like the product. It's not quite as heavy duty as my Eufy Smart lock with WiFi in my garage but it's close. To call the lock a smart lock is a bit deceiving. It does not have Bluetooth or app capabilities. With that being said I'd like to see a product like that from you in the future as the market is moving that way quickly.Craftsmanship and quality are outstanding. I really enjoy the look on the front door and enjoy the easy of use. I have not tested the IP54 but will report back if any issues occur next winter. It's in a heavily covered area so I'm not sure it would get wet anyways. One major installation addition I would make is numbering the boxes and cutting back on plastic use as many consumers are concerned about the problems plastics are causing on our planet. A small cardboard box for each step with screws/bolts with numbers greatly alleviates any confusion consumers have with installation.

Pretty, locks, difficult programming
The part of the lock that goes into the door frame was thicker than other locks. My husband had to carve out part of the wood to have it sit flat. Installation was ok.-Difficult for big hands to manage the wires.-The programming was probably the most frustrating part. We left it for 2 weeks without programming because I didnât want to deal with it. Make sure it locks with the lock button before you go to any other steps!-programming new code numbers is a skill. Make sure to use â01â and not just 1. Those are for two different types of programming-the lock is a pain honestly. If your A/C pushes at your door in anyway like ours the door might not âfeel closedâ to the lock so the lock will lock but wonât light up red to show itâs locked until door is closed tighter-sometimes I have to touch the screen multiple times to get it to light up and be ready to punch in the code-sometimes it just wonât unlock, you have to press lock multiple times sometimes until the light turns red-we paid a decent amount for this but I donât think Iâd recommend it. Better to go with buttons and/or an internet based one
