For the price, I feel like there is a lot of capability with regards to the various sample rates of high res files it can deal with. This DAC prompted me to explore the world of DSD recordings. Sound is clean and detailed, which I expected, but I have not listened to the competition so can't make a comparison. A reviewer on here mentioned having issues getting the uDSD to play DSD256. I want to clarify that I personally have no issues playing DSD256 with my NuPrime UDSD. While most of my DSD files are DSD64 or 128, I do have a few in DSD256 and using Jriver to bit-stream on a Windows 10 machine the UDSD performs great. I will say that in PCM mode with extremely high bitrates (usually upconverting) there are occasionally some buffer hiccups and also some clicking noises that I think are entirely the fault of my 10 year old slow laptop processor and not a fault of the UDSD. I have not tried it on any other machines. Hope this helps anyone wondering about potential DSD issues. ### ⭐⭐⭐ No DSD256 on multiple variations or software & equipment. *by G***H on Reviewed in the United States on September 30, 2017* Purchased 8/31/17. I tried two different Macs, four different audio apps (Audirvana+, Roon, HQPlayer, & JRiver Media Center), and 3 different USB cables (Pangea XL, AudioQuest Cinnamon, & the cable that came with the uDSD), and the best the uDSD could do is DSD128.Despite what the product description said, what is posted on NuPrime's website, what was printed on the box label, & the best efforts of a computer-saavy audiophile, the uDSD couldn't perform as advertised.(Note that another DAC, an iFi-Audio iDAC2 also rated for DSD256, had no problem delivering with all combinations of computer, software, & cabling the uDSD could only manage DSD128 with.)However, except for an occassional hiccup, it worked well & sounded great on PCM 384kHz & lower and DSD64 & 128.Four stars for what it could do, minus one for what it couldn't. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Good product *by P***7 on Reviewed in the United States on February 20, 2018* I'm glad I purchased this DAC.
