They do help with stress, anxiety, and relaxation. My anxiety levels take a nosedive after taking these. I do have that annoying tingling feeling that some experience. However, I can negate the effect by taking one capsule 1/2 an hour after taking the first.

The Background info: I knew I had some sort of anxiety disorder, but never really took much notice of it until I stopped being able to go to class/appointments without making myself sick with nervousness over nothing. My stomach was constantly in knots, I got angry at the drop of a hat, my sex drive was GONE (I am 25, and just got married, that's not normal), I had intensely bad bouts of depression, and if my routine was thrown off, I had trouble functioning through the rest of the day, but I absolutely will not go on any type of prescription medication to treat anxiety, as I am worried about the addiction factor, so I started researching. I looked into a lot of different OTC supplements for stress/mood, etc, but GABA came highly recommended most often. I ordered this bottle. The results: I received this on Feb. 19th, 2014, and started taking it that day. I took it later in the afternoon after I got home, as I wasn't sure if it would make me drowsy. I felt that it did make me a bit drowsy, but nothing extreme, until my husband mentioned that maybe I just felt relaxed because I'm so used to being wound up tightly and tense feeling. He was right. I have not missed a day taking this (1 pill, in the morning, as I don't feel any different if I take more at a time OR more throughout the day), and I know some people have said it doesn't do anything but I legitimately feel it's effects within an hour or so of taking it. If I forget it, and take it later than normal/after I have left home, my stomach will get nervous and queazy again, then as soon as I take it, it fades away. I feel anger, sadness, and nervousness like I imagine a regular person does now; I am able to handle situations that would usually put me on edge with ease. My IBS is all but gone. I cannot say enough good things about this product. One of my friends even tried it, and said she could feel how relaxed it made her, and really liked it. (So far, this has had no effect on my sex drive, unfortunately, but I'm still working on it!) Overall: If you are curious, or trying to find a solution to an anxiety/depression without a prescription med, I think this is what you should try. What could it hurt? PLEASE NOTE: After taking this for a few days, I noticed about 15-20 minutes after consumption, my heart sped up a bit, and my breathing became shallow. Nothing unbearable, it's just a common side effect. I take a ballet class, and can still function just fine while waiting for my heart rate to slow down, and my breathing to return to normal, I just thought I'd throw that in here so now one freaks out like I did thinking something was wrong. I am now also taking: NOW Foods Vitamin D3 5000 Iu (every other day), 240 Softgels, Biotech Nutritions YOHIMBINE HCI 120 CAPS, and NOW Foods Maca 500mg, 250 Capsules along with the GABA.

I was little skeptical given the negative reviews. I took it an hour before bed. I felt anxious at first. My heart was agitated and i even felt some chest pain. When i fell asleep, my mind wasnt racing like usual. I agree with others that the dose is too high. I opened them up and split contents in half and the agitation is gone. I will divide in three and see how i do with that. Contents does not dissolve in cold water, weirdly it sinks to the bottom and accumulates. So far, im sleeping better. I still wake up at times but fall quickly asleep. Still testing it out.

Like some people I have suffered from some pretty extensive traumas. I have tried to stay away from pharmaceutical medications to curb my horrific anxiety. I have built an amazing life for myself and my anxiety had gotten so bad I felt like I couldn't even enjoy my new life. My mom mentioned this Gaba and I decided to try it out. Ive been taking it for going on 4 days, and I cannot explain what an absolute Godsend this has been to me. Im still me, I don't feel all drugged up, but what I do feel, is the ability to enjoy my life I have worked so hard to achieve. This is something I will always be so thankful for!

I take this in the morning upon wakening. I find it very supportive in terms of anxiety reduction but in tandem with daily meditation and physical exercise. Taking a break from it now I can see a difference not having it in my system. It was very effective. To those taking in the evening I'd suggest trying it in the morning instead to see if it works better for you.
