It’s a great piece of kit, I had a steam generator before and you didn’t have to worry about the temperature. I have a steam generator iron that would constantly stick to my shirts etc. when ironing. I repeatedly cleaned the soleplate, but each time I did any ironing, it was always the same. It was driving me nuts and ruining my shirts! On closer inspection, it looked like the non-stick ceramic coating on my iron's soleplate was so thin it had worn away in places. I didn't know these things existed, but I thought I'd give it a whirl. It fits well, it is slightly larger than the original soleplate, but fits tightly and doesn't move during use. It's quite thick so it doesn't have a button groove like you'd normally find. No sticking and no scorching! Glides along very nicely and I'm really pleased with it. It was expensive for what it is I guess, however it's saved me the cost of a new steam generatoor iron and makes ironing so much easier and smoother, it's money well spent. The only thing I'd say is that the heat/steam from your iron will escape in a different pattern, so watch your fingers. You may also find that if this is slightly larger than your original soleplate (as in my case) it may not rest on the heel of the iron and be unstable, so just be careful how you leave your iron at rest. I did consider some cheaper variants of these but the reviews were very mixed.
