## Description

From the manufacturer

Review: Quality smartwatch - I have to commend Withings on this watch. I love watches and any excuse to buy a new one. Personally, I find the smart watches try too do too much these days and I end up not using it, but this watch has struck a sweet spot that I have not come across with others. The main reason for buying this watch for me was the fact that it uses traditional hands. I do not need to tilt my wrist to read the time and the stronger the sun, the better I can see it because they are REAL hands (hurrah). They even have a small amount of luminous pain on them which is just enough to be able to read them in the dark, but failing that, you can resort to pressing the button and the time will display in the top window. Furthermore, if the window is blocked by any of the hands, it will move the hands out of the way to enable you to have an unobstructed view of the window. Cleverly, it only does this if the hands are in the way. What a wonderful touch. This watch has a very long battery life. The manufacturers have clearly thought about all of the battery draining aspects and designed the watch with this as a key deliverable. For example, there is no second hand and the minute hand moves in one movement every minute rather than sweeping slowly around the face. I also like the step monitor, it is the bottom dial and enables you to see at a glance approximately how many steps you have achieved in the day. Other functions such as sleep, sport and a host of heart and breathing related aspects that are allegedly medical grade are interesting and in a way reassuring, but not intrusive or the main reason I wanted a watch like this. I use a bicycle most days and the set-up is simple. A long press gets it into exercise mode (you can change this if you like), three rotational clicks on the side button and you see a picture of a bike, one more press and it's all set. It links to Strava and takes GPS from the mobile, measuring speed, distance and heart-rate continuously. It certainly did a better job than my previous smart watch which actually surprised me given the visual simplicity. The only thing that I have found rather strange is that there is no way of knowing the precise time in seconds. This certainly doesn't bother me but it might bother others. Honestly, I haven't really done this watch justice. I cannot stress how much I have missed having a proper watch on my arm, it looks and feels fantastic. The other features I think are a bonus, yet they work reliably and the whole watch is extremely well thought out. This is such a good watch, I don't think I can ever justify giving anything else five stars in the future!
Review: The greatest tracker for watch entusiasts, with great features - I started to be interested on Scanwatch since its presentation at CES 2020. After hesitating getting one on early release in Augusto (1000 pieces), I got it a few days ago in normal sales through desertcart, updated to the latest software. In general review. If you like watches, this is the PERFECT tracker. You get a good step and HR monitor which you can wear every day without feeling of having a rubbery tracker or a mobile phone strapped to your wrist. Notifications are off by default and it does its job without being intrusive, with little use of the long lasting battery. The information is clear and simple: steps, floors climbed, distance travelled, heart monitor, always monitored. Then you can start tracking activities, run an ECG or run an Oxygen Saturation monitor. The night sleeping monitor can be improved in my opinion. But it does have some good functionalities like tracking the O2 levels to detect sleep apnea, which to me was quite important as I had some episodes a while ago. Overall, it is a brilliant tracker for watch entusiasts, featuring standard straps, for people that want a battery that lasts more than a day or few days without charging and for people that are interested in proper health monitoring features, maybe due to conditions or general awareness. Brilliant product. Detailed review and useful notes. I have done all the configuration with the app, so I am not sure why some reviewers found that difficult... Open the Health app, add the device and it just works. I tested it on an Android device. The overall watch width for the 42mm version is 50mm. Check your wrist. As a watch entusiast, the recommendation is always to have the watch not exceeding the width of your wrist. If your wrist is narrower, just go for the 38mm and it will look nice and classy. I got a couple of doctor friends that checked the results. The ECG is a bit noisy to their like, but usable and useful, especially if you have a condition to monitor. Remember that for the ECG to work you need to place your other hand on top of the watch. Keep as still as you can to avoid noise from the reading. Together we also checked the O2 measurements and were let down at first by that. Measurements were either "inconclusive" or measuring low saturation levels compared to the finger regular sensor we were trying. We checked then more carefully the instruction, as one of the doctor pointed out about the watch being closed to the wrist bones. It turned out by reading there that the watch has to be places AT LEAST 1cm away from such bones. Also, it has to be fit relatively tight. Not too much, but enough so it doesn't slip on your skin (when trying to rotate it, the skin should follow). Also, you should rest your hand relaxed on a surface, possibly opened. Results were always spot on by just doing that. Check the picture attached to see how I was doing my readings. Small downside notes: the charger is not inductive, it uses 2 contacts that have to be aligned well for it to work and they get out of place if you accidentally touch the watch. Just be aware. Charging time is quick, less than an hour as far as I can tell. The regular HR monitor (with the LEDs) is quite fast and seems relatively reliable. The battery lasts for days and days of wearing it constantly with the standard monitoring running. Battery depletes a bit faster when running ECGs and O2 measures, but not terribly fast. During my tests I noticed because I was running a test after the other, so overall the battery duration is impressive EDIT: the battery is amazing. I tried charging it in full and check it out for a few days. I have been wearing the watch 24/7, went out walking, had quite a few ECG and O2 measurements taken. It has been 17 days now on, the battery still shows 23%... I am amazed. I think I might forget to charge it when it is needed :)

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Are the sizes quoted the diameter of the main case bezel, or to the outer edge of the button? Trying to work out if the 38 is ok for wife’s wrists.**
A: The sizes quoted are the diameter of the watch crystal. I have the larger 42mm size on my wrist. My wife has the 38mm and it fits her well. In my opinion, the 42 is too wide (big) for a slim wrist. I can't tell you which to choose, but I can say that the sizes are the diameter or the watch crystal. Good luck with your selection!

**Q: I have seen a video showing major discrepancies between the scanwatch and polar hr10 belt heart rate measurements, have those issues been resolved?**
A: Yes. I compared a scanwatch with an Apple Watch on the same wrist at the same time and scanwatch was double (and ridiculously high). Withings said to return it and so I did.

**Q: Which size would you recommend for a man with an average to large wrist size?**
A: Really just depends if you like a larger or smaller watch face. The band can be easily changed if too large or small.
The watch helped confirm that I have AFib, and I'm having procedure to correct it next week. Priceless.

**Q: Should this watch breakdown/stop working, I have been told that these cannot be repaired even if sent to the factory! Is this correct?**
A: I've sent two back ,one screen broken after a day the other casing cracked. Both refunded I think they are guaranteed for 3years .
As for mechanical break down I don't know you would have to look on the withings site and ask .

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Good but need more choice for watch face
*by T***R on 4 December 2021*

Good build quality, app is good. The watch does what is does very well, Withing products are generally very well designed and made. My only gripe is that the watch face is difficult to see in low light, the glass is too reflective, more like a mirror, as you age you need more contrast or better light to see. The numbers and hands are no easy to see on Whiting watches. My wife has a white and gold which is easier but it small and not the colour I want for myself, I bought the 44" black but had to return it as I found the glass is domed and reflects and this makes it even worse to see the time. I would have preferred the Horizon version but it's nearly £500 Withing need to work on the watch face a bit more in my opinion.
