The bodies are made of solid aluminum with four large ball bearings on the bottom in a retaining ring that looks like it is made of steel. As long as you keep them on a smooth hard surface they work like a champ. But if you put them on plywood, for example, if what you are moving is very heavy, they tend to sink in. So if you're using them in a shop with a clean hard surface they are great. The rubber pads on top are nice, but got ripped off the first time I used them. It doesn't look like they are critical to their function though, so it was no big deal to me. They come in a very nice case, by the way. I would definitely buy them again.
